Check out the trailer for Lake: Season’s Greetings below before we jump into additional details:
In Lake – Season’s Greetings, you will play as Thomas Wiess, father to Meredith Weiss, the main character of Lake. The story will serve as a prequel as it is set during the holiday season of 1985, one year before the events of the first title. The prequel will feature the same relaxing gameplay as the original game and will feature many new and familiar faces. It will also introduce five completely new characters to the town and each of them will offer their own unique slice-of-life stories. Switching from the daughter to the father will present a new perspective on the relationship Meredith had with her parents.
The prequel will also answer some of the questions that the base game did not answer but only teased. It will present a fresh look at the residents of Providence Oaks and its people and the positive role that an amiable mailman can play in everything happening around town. Gamious’ Creative Director Jos Bouman comments:
We can’t wait for players to jump back into Lake’s world, which might look even prettier covered in a layer of snow, and cheered up with lots of Christmas lighting. As far as we know, Season’s Greetings might be the first game that doesn’t just add a visual layer to make it a ‘Christmas game’, but is built from the ground up to let players experience a game in the true spirit of Christmas. With the annual bombardment of Christmas-themed music and movies, we think it’s about time to add a holiday game to that tradition!
Players also don’t have to worry that the Lake ending they chose won’t be compatible with Season’s Greetings, as the prequel takes place nine months before the events of Lake.
Lake: Season’s Greetings is slated for release this holiday season on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Epic Games Store and Steam. You can add the game to your wishlist on your desired platform right now. Make sure to check out our review of Lake as well.
