Journey For Elysium Gets a Brand New Dev Diary Showcasing the Game’s Unique Visuals

Journey For Elysium Launch Trailer

Cronos Interactive and Mantis Games have released yet another developer diary for their upcoming VR Greek adventure game Journey For Elysium detailing the unique visuals of the game. The video details the art, animation, and visual design of the game and how the developers use it to their advantage while creating the beautiful Underworld of Journey For Elysium.

If you have been following the development and updates of Journey For Elysium, you would know that the game features a unique black-and-white art style however the developers did not just stop there. In the companion article, the developers detail that apart from using black and white as the main theme, they also wanted to use an element that would stand out in the world.

For this very purpose, they used the golden highlights in the game which goes well along with the black-and-white art style of the game and helps the developers to indicate key objects that the players can interact with. They also made sure that this golden color was only used on objects that are helpful and can be used as a guide for the players.

Check out the new developer diary below.

To create a world as authentic as the real Greek Underworld would look like, the developers went and looked at architecture which would help them create the giant constructs and smaller hovels in the game. The game is set in the Etruscan era which precedes the Greek and Roman cultures which is not commonly known when compared to the Greek and Roman cultures.

I will highly recommend that you read the companion article as the developer has shared a lot more details on how they created this amazing adventure and how they made the world of the game come alive. Journey For Elysium is a story-driven VR game inspired by ancient mythology. Players step in the shoes of an unnamed hero who is now dead but must traverse the Underworld to discover more about his past.

Key features of Journey For Elysium include:

  • Puzzles: Journey for Elysium brings back the excitement of classic adventures games of the ’90s and revamps them for a new era. Solve an increasingly complex range of puzzles, challenges, and tests to move the story forward.
  • A lot to discover: immerse yourself in a rich world, grounded between history and myth. Explore breathtaking environments and unravel surprising facts of the Classical antiquity. Connect with your senses to this VR storytelling experience.
  • Mechanics: travel on the river Styx and explore the underworld with the rowing mechanic, the most important traveling method in the game. This natural way of transportation is also very comfortable and immersive.
  • Two modes: when you are not rowing, you can experience two different ways of moving around thanks to the Comfort or Immersive modes.
  • Art style: enjoy the black and white art style inspired by the paintings of Gustave Doré. The high contrast art style fits best in recreating the desired atmosphere of the underworld. In addition, you will find golden highlights here and there, which will guide you further along the way.
