How to Get a Horse in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
To get your first horse, you have to go to a specific location where you have a high chance of finding wild Horses. To get your own horse, go to the Passeri Greenbelt which is south of the Lookout Landing in the Hyrule Field of Central Hyrule. You first need to go to the Lookout Landing, and then head out from the southern gate, continuing south until you reach the Passeri Greenbelt.
This area will be an open grassy field with wild horses that you can find roaming around. Getting up too close is likely to frighten them and scare them off. But you can catch them carefully and sneakily.
How to Catch and Ride a Horse
When we say that you can sneakily catch a horse, we mean that you can actually sneak up behind a horse. To do this carefully, you first need to crouch, and then slowly use the left stick to move slowly and approach the horse. Keeping behind a horse ensures that you stay out of a horse’s sight.
When you get close, the game will highlight the option where you can mount it by pressing the A button, allowing you to catch the horse. You can start riding a horse immediately now that you have mounted it. Your horse will likely be agitated, but you can calm it down by pressing the L button. To gallop, press the A button, and if you want to slow down, pull back on the left stick to bring it to a stop.
If you want to call your horse, you can whistle by pressing the Down button, summoning your horse if it is close by.
How to Tame
Now that you have caught your first horse, you now have to tame it to increase its bond level with you. Remember that you can calm your horse by pressing the L button to increase your bond with your horse. Spamming this button will speed up the process, so don’t shy away from using the button in the early stages of riding a new horse.

You can do so by talking to the receptionist inside the stable and choosing the option to register a horse. After registering, you can purchase upgrades, use the stable to get new items, and also name your horse whatever you want to call it.
