Farming Simulator 22 Had a Massive First Week with Over 1.5M Copies Sold

Developed and published by GIANTS Software, Farming Simulator 22 is the first title in the franchise to have a massive first week in terms of sales. Farming Simulator 22 managed to sell over 1.5 million copies during its first week making it the most successful title in the whole franchise so far. The report comes from the developer itself who detailed that the results are from the title’s PC and console sales combined.

With its debut on November 22, 2021, the huge success of Farming Simulator 22 shows that apart from its loyal fanbase, the franchise is collecting new fans and players every year making every next title in the franchise a bigger release than the previous one. This is also the first title in the franchise which was self-published by the developer, and it helped the developer to streamline communications with international distributors and extend its network.

Christian Ammann, CEO of GIANTS Software said:

I’m so proud! Of the team and the prospering environment it thrives in. Being able to successfully build international structures to transfer an already huge series like Farming Simulator into a self-published brand with new impulses, is not to take for granted. The great collaboration with our partners ensured a fantastic launch.

Another major factor of the title’s success was that the players were all connected with each other no matter what platform they were playing the game at. Farming Simulator 22 features cross-platform multiplayer between PC, current-gen, and last-gen consoles allowing players to connect and play the game with their friends irrespective of the platform they chose for their game. Boris Stefan, the acting Head of Publishing since April 2020 also added:

The initial success of this first week and the great feedback we got from players proves: Farming Simulator is going in the right direction. Our plan to lead and manage all aspects of publishing communications to achieve the company’s strategic goals was met.

Farming Simulator 22 is currently available on PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. It features one of the most extensive farming simulations to date and also brings new features into the mix such as production chains forming agricultural empires and seasonal cycles bringing new challenges to the table. Players wanting more out of the game can opt for the Year 1 Season Pass which adds new content to the game.
