Emberville is Bringing Deep Class Customization and Town Building to Steam Early Access

Emberville

Developer Cygnus Cross has announced that its debut action RPG Emberville will launch into Steam Early Access in Summer 2026. The announcement was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer offering an early look at the project, which has been in development since 2023.

Positioned as an action-adventure RPG that blends combat, progression, and town-building systems, Emberville aims to expand on the familiar “fight and farm” formula by introducing deeper character customization and long-term progression mechanics.

Emberville Announced for Steam Early Access, Launching Summer 2026

Set in a procedurally generated world, Emberville places players in a growing settlement that evolves over time as new NPCs are rescued, areas are rebuilt, and systems are unlocked. Exploration and combat form the backbone of the experience, with players venturing into dangerous regions, facing large-scale boss encounters, and returning resources to help expand the town.

Combat in Emberville is built around a streamlined two-button foundation, layered with weapon-specific combo systems and class-based abilities. As players level multiple classes, skills can be inherited across builds, allowing abilities from one class to carry over into another. This structure is designed to encourage experimentation, letting players create hybrid playstyles rather than committing permanently to a single role.

Progression extends beyond combat. Players can switch between activities such as farming, fishing, crafting, and building, with the game’s interface dynamically adjusting to match the task at hand. A dedicated creative area allows players to place buildings, decorations, and functional structures that support both gameplay progression and customization.

Cygnus Cross has also confirmed that Emberville will be fully voiced, with Alex Jordan and Doug Cockle among the first voice actors announced for the project. Additional casting details are expected to be revealed as development continues.

The project has attracted outside collaboration as well, with popular Twitch streamer CohhCarnage partnering with the studio during development. According to the team, the collaboration has influenced the game’s systems and overall direction, with an emphasis on player-driven customization and replayability.

Emberville is slated for an Early Access release on PC via Steam in Summer 2026, with further details on its roadmap and content updates expected closer to release.
