Publisher Thunderful along with developers Headup and Team Meat have revealed their brand-new title Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine set inside the universe of Super Meat Boy. If you have played Super Meat Boy, you will remember Dr. Fetus as Meat Boy’s archnemesis from the game and now, he is getting his very own game. Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine is a match-4 puzzle game that gives a unique twist to the genre by the nefarious Dr. Fetus.

As you can see from the trailer above, Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine is not just any plain match-4 puzzle title that you may have played in the past. Instead, Dr. Fetus is bringing his own brutality to this game as well. Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine blends together puzzle and action gameplay to deliver a puzzle experience that is not known to players normally. The game features many iconic locations from Super Meat Boy and Super Meat Boy Forever such as the forest, the hospital and the salt factory.
The animations of the game have also been created by the original Super Meat Boy and Super Meat Boy Forever artists and the soundtrack of the game has been created by RIDICULON. Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine will feature over 100 hand-crafted levels which will be filled with creative traps and hazards for you to beat, and if you can survive in the game, you will be confronted by the gruesome boss at the end of each world which will up the ante when it comes to challenge.
If you consider the timeline of Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine, it takes place right after the events of Super Meat Boy Forever where after analyzing Super Meat Boy, Dr. Fetus now has all of the data that he needs to create the perfect Meat Boy clone however the DNA sample that he collected is not a perfect sample. Because of this, the clones are not as perfect as Meat Boy and to counter this problem, Dr. Fetus has created a bunch of ruthless test chambers to weed out the bad clones from the good ones.

Working together has allowed us to capture the hardcore essence of Meat Boy and bring it to a completely new genre to create a puzzle title unlike anything else out there.

When Headup approached us with this idea for a match-4 puzzle game, we fell in love with it. We merged their programming and design with our art and design skills and now we have this wickedly fun and beautiful puzzle game coming to PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC that we never would have even considered making if not for their amazing prototype. I can’t wait for people to play it!
Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine is slated for release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2023. Additional details about the game will be revealed closer to its launch.
