Indie studio DryGin Studios has announced the release date for Extinction Day. The upcoming doomsday simulator, Extinction Day, will be released on April 10, 2026, on Steam. The strategy simulation title, from the team behind Bio Inc., focuses on orchestrating large-scale disasters with the objective of wiping out humanity before it can mount a successful response.
DryGin Studios is known for its previous release, Bio Inc., which managed to sell over 325,000 copies on PC via Steam. Its mobile release was downloaded over 30 million times, and it amassed hundreds of millions of views on YouTube. It was the studio’s first game to arrive on PC, and with Extinction Day, the developer is now gearing up for its next release.
Extinction Day PC Steam Release Date Announced
At its core, Extinction Day is built around combining natural and man-made catastrophes to destabilize regions and accelerate global collapse. Players can deploy plagues, environmental disasters, and warfare scenarios, chaining them together to create compounding effects that weaken resistance over time. Strategic targeting plays a key role, as specific regions can be struck to disrupt governments and slow coordinated recovery efforts while expanding the overall reach of destruction.
The game also introduces an active resistance system, where humanity responds dynamically to escalating threats. Governments attempt to contain disasters and secure critical territories, while the scientific community works to develop countermeasures that can reverse or limit damage. As the situation worsens, global efforts shift toward survival, culminating in attempts to construct an escape Ark, adding late-game pressure for players to accelerate their strategy before humanity can evade extinction.
At launch, Extinction Day includes 18 campaign missions spread across four difficulty levels, alongside 28 challenge scenarios with unique conditions. Progression is supported through more than 70 unlockable perks and upgrades, allowing players to tailor their approach, whether focusing on rapid escalation, resource efficiency, or chaining large-scale events. The structure is designed to support multiple playstyles and repeated runs, with each scenario encouraging different strategic combinations.
Following its demo showcase during Steam Next Fest, the game has accumulated over 80,000 wishlists, marking a notable milestone for the studio ahead of launch. According to the developers, the project has been in development for over a decade, evolving from early concepts during the production of Bio Inc. into a standalone experience centered on large-scale systemic destruction.
Extinction Day will be available on April 10, 2026, via Steam, priced at $19.99 with regional pricing, and will launch with a 20% discount for the first 14 days.
