Destiny 2 Xbox Series X PlayStation 5

Bungie has just announced that its latest title in the series Destiny 2 will be available on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The game will be playable in the next-generation of consoles through backward compatibility.

The confirmation was made by the official Twitter account of Bungie, where replying to Xbox, the developer confirmed the game for next-gen consoles.

While this does not come as a surprise, mainly because both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will have backward compatibility, it does raise the question if the game would be enhanced for the new consoles and what features it will have. Of course, the most common feature that players would demand is running Destiny 2 on 60fps, which is what PC players enjoy at the moment.

Bungie does go on to say that more details are to come, so we might just have to wait for any information. The news does raise many questions, where many are wondering if players on the new console will be able to play with the current generation. If so, this can cause major advantage to players on the new consoles when paired players on the PlayStation4 and Xbox One.

There are also questions if the game would be free-to-play on the next generation of consoles. The game is currently free for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players with all the DLC. Having said that, it is still too early to say what Bungie has in plan, especially considering that the PlayStation 5 has not even been revealed as of yet.

Destiny 2 joins the list of many titles that are coming to both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six: Siege is also one of the titles that will be available at launch for both the consoles. Just like Bungie, Ubisoft is yet to detail all the enhanced features planned for the game on the newer consoles.
