Corepunk is a Brand New MMORPG Announced for PC and it Looks Amazing

Artificial Core Interview

Developer Artificial Core has announced its brand new top-down, non-linear MMORPG Corepunk set in a sci-fi universe. Along with the game reveal, the developer has also revealed key art, screenshots and actual gameplay which looks amazing for a brand new IP. The open beta for Corepunk will launch on PC next year and we cannot wait to play it.

Corepunk will feature a seamless open world which will also have plenty of wilderness, the game will allow players to venture to an array of intricately detailed environments inhabited by four unique and distinct cultures. These places will range from a vast metropolis booming with activity to a lonely camp in the middle of an uncharted desert.

One of the unique aspects of Corepunk is that players can take on story missions in whichever order they prefer instead of following a linear sequence of missions. This will allow players to explore the world of Corepunk without any restrictions.

Check out the announcement trailer for Corepunk below.

Producer of Corepunk, Eugene Kiver says:

Corepunk represents a synthesis of our favorite settings and themes from science fiction. Over the course of five years, we’ve expanded our team to over 100 people to ensure our vision of the ultimate futuristic fantasy comes to life. We can’t wait to have MMORPG fans live out their technocratic dreams with us.

Players will begin their journeys by creating a hero from the available list. Each hero comes with its own unique set of fighting styles and players will find even more unique sets of abilities within these fighting styles. They can be further tailored to player’s own unique playstyle with talents and artifacts acquired throughout the game. This will allow players to have some of the most varied builds in the game.

The game will also feature a very extensive economy system and hence crafting and trading in-game items will play an important role in the game. As players explore the story of Corepunk, they will encounter branching quests which will lead to alternate endings so the game encourages multiple playthroughs if players want to unlock all possible endings. The world will be covered with a fog-of-war which will ensure a tense environment coupled with day and night cycles along with dynamic weather.

Along with singleplayer, Corepunk will also have PvP which will require a different strategy. Players will need to manage their distance between themselves and their enemies. The abilities will have a cooldown and every hero will have certain strengths and weaknesses and players will need to exploit the enemy’s weakness and their own strengths if they want to win. To prevent weaker player becoming the victim of stronger ones, a karma system will also be in place.

The game will follow the MMORPG traditions and will include a profound amount of lore, arenas, guilds, farms, randomly generated dungeons, raids and crafting and mining professions. If players are feeling alone, they can meet and join up with other human companions in the game as well because some quests in the game will be too much for them to handle on their own. The game is developed with the Unity engine and it is slated for a Q4 2020 release. Open-beta will arrive early 2020 and sign-ups are now open.
