Publisher Fireshine Games and developer Pugstorm has announced the launch of the new Paws & Claws update for Core Keeper. Core Keeper is currently available in early access on PC and the developer is releasing new updates for the game regularly and the latest one to arrive is the Paws & Claws update. Core Keeper is a sandbox adventure game and since its early access release, it has managed to sell over a million copies. The new Paws & Claws is a free content update for everyone.
The most important highlight of the new update is that it adds pets to the game for the very first time and it lets you hatch them and take good care of your fluffy friends. Check out the key features of the new Paws & Claws update in the new trailer released for the game below before we jump into additional details:
The update also adds a new Meadow sub-biome where you can take to the fields with the waggy-tailed Subterrier, floppy-eared Fanhare, fluffy-furred Embertail, oozy Jr Slimes, and the aerobatic Owlux by your side. Once you have your pets, you will feed and train them which will result in them gaining experience and learning new skills, and using their combat abilities against the beasts in battle. You will also discover farm animals like Moolins, Bambucks, and the crustacean-like Strolly Poly and take good care of them to gain useful materials like milk, wool, and Strolly Poly plates.
The new Creative Mode added to the game will allow you to explore your creative side as it gives you a passively paced building mode where you can create the underground base of your dreams without the need to gather resources or fend off enemy attacks. You can make this even more soothing by listening to the sounds of the brand-new playable music from hit indie titles like Stardew Valley and Valheim featuring discoverable music sheets in the game world. Before you can play them in the game, you will need to find their music sheets. There is also a new drumkit and piano added to the game.
The developer further details that a lot of highly-anticipated community-requested features such as object rotation, improved combat mechanics, a bucket to transport liquids, and brand-new glass material, complete with refractive lighting effects and colorful new paint options are also now available in the game. Fredrik Präntare, Chief Executive Officer & Creative Director at Pugstorm comments:
Core Keeper’s Paws & Claws Update is our most exciting and adorable update yet, and we can’t wait for players to meet the new pets and get building in our new Creative Mode with today’s download. It’s been amazing fun to work on this update, and seeing the fan reaction to pets in our original trailer was an incredible moment. With an extensive range of new features and fan-requested additions, there’s never been a better time for players to hop into the game.
