Borderlands 3 Cross-Play is Not Planned for Launch but Could Come Later

Borderlands 3 Cross-Play

Gearbox has announced that right out of the box at launch, Borderlands 3 cross-play will not be available how it is something that they will want to implement as soon as possible after releasing the game. This was confirmed by Randy Pitchford, Gearbox boss, on Twitter when he announced a special thing for today.

His tweet stated the words ‘Celebration of Togetherness’ which led to some people believing that this is about Borderlands 3 having cross-play. However, Randy was quick to respond and cleared out any rumors that today’s reveal is not about cross-play at all. He also mentioned that this feature is not present in Borderlands 3 however they will want to implement this feature at a later point when it is practical.

The planned announcement is for today at 7’o clock in the morning and we are now sure that whatever it is, cross-play is not a part of it. This does not rule out the fact that cross-play will never come to Borderlands 3 however Randy himself has confirmed that they will work with their partners and will strive to implement cross-play in the game as soon as it is practical.

Randy also mentioned that Gearbox is committed to cross-play on as many platforms as possible which means that they will try to bring all three platforms PC, Xbox One and PS4 together and it might follow suit of Fortnite and other cross-play shooters currently available. The list is not long but it seems like Randy wants Gearbox on that list.

Earlier, we got to know that Borderlands 3 will ship with a number of accessibility features so that players with special needs can play and enjoy the game just like every other player. It will include an Apex Legends inspired pinging system as well which will certainly help players communicate with each other more comfortably even if they have speaking problems.
