Bandai Namco Confirms Raphael Returning in Soulcalibur VI – Reveal Trailer

Soulcalibur VI

Raphael, the French nobleman returns to the Soulcalibur Series with Soulcalibur VI, as announced by Bandai Namco. This comes as no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention to Soulcalibur IV news.

In Soulcalibur III, Raphael transformed into a vampire-like malfested due to Soul Edge which meant we will not be seeing him use those powers in the latest game. However, it can also be a part of his new story progression.

Much like the other character reveals earlier, we get a decent look at Raphael’s new design as well as his various moves. This includes the various and more elaborate moves that resemble the more cinematic part of Soulcalibur’s past competition.

Raphael Sorel is shown wielding his rapier known as Flambert in the trailer that was released just ahead of Tokyo Game Show, and resembles more closely with the appearances he has made in the previous titles of the series.

Soulcalibur VI

Raphael was first featured 15 years ago in Soulcalibur II and has returned since for all mainline games. He will be joined by another character revealed last week Soulcalibur VI: Cervantes. A trailer for Cervantes was also shown giving out his details. Here is what Bandai Namco Adds to the details of Raphael:

As a master of the rapier, his fighting style is that of a fencer, delivering deadly blow to opponents through powerful thrusts and slashes. Processing great speed and agility, Raphael is at once difficult to hit and defend against. Yet his life has taken many twists and turns, from noble family member to living as a vagabond in Spain. Where ever he ends up, more about Raphael will be revealed in Soulcalibur VI when the game launches.

The list of characters, with the addition of Raphael and Cervantes, totals to 20 characters in the roster. The list now has a many returning characters like Astaroth, Takim, Sophitia, Mitsurugi, Voldo, Seong Ma-ni, Nightmare, Xianghua and Kilik as well as newcomers Azwel and Groh. The Witcher’s Geralt will also feature as a guest character, while Tira from Soulcalibur 3 will come as a DLC.

Soulcalibur VI will launch for Playstation 4, PC, Xbox One on October 19. Are you excited to play the game? Let us know in the comments below.
