This ARK Survival: Ascended Creatures Guide details everything that you need to know about the new creatures in ARK Survival: Ascended.

Creatures Guide – ARK Survival: Ascended

ARK Survival: Ascended adds five brand-new creatures to the game and each of these will be part of a separate DLC including the base game. You will find these new creatures in the wild in each of their respective regions and you can also tame them. Below, you will find details of all of the new creatures added to ARK Survival: Ascended and how you can tame them:

Fasolasuchus

Fasolasuchus is a massive crocodile-like creature. However, instead of water, they like to swim through the sand. If you are exploring around in desert-like biomes, these will jump out of the sand suddenly to ambush you. They can also create sand whirlpools to trap you and catch you. They also love to use their powerful tail to whip up sand and blind other predators and prey. They have acid glands at the end of their spiny fins and mouth and their powerful bites can melt through anything.

How to Tame

To tame a Fasolasuchus, you will need to soften one up using explosives, trying to grab a spike or even trying to lure one into a rock. They are excellent at fighting larger prey as they can take a lot of damage thanks to their thick hide but smaller enemies who fight in packs might gain an advantage over them. They make excellent mounts if you want to hunt bigger creatures.

General Stats

  • Common name: Fasolasuchus
  • Species: Fasolasuchus sabulonatator
  • Time: Late Triassic
  • Diet: Carnivore
  • Temperament: Aggressive (Ambusher)
  • DLC: Scorched Earth

Shastasaurus

Shastasaurus is found in the oceans where it can disorient enemies with its powerful ultrasonic chirps and then ram them. A concussion wave from this powerful attack is enough to bring down plenty of enemies that come in its way. It will not attack you directly but will come closer to you in order to inspect you before deeming you a threat and attacking you.

How to Tame

To tame a Shastasaurus, you can bring in some Ichthysaur along with you who will keep it busy while you can soften it up using your favorite weapon. Once it is tamed, you will have a powerful ride to move around in the vast water bodies in ARK Survival: Ascended.

General Stats

  • Species: Shastasaurus carmentellum
  • Time: Late Triassic
  • Diet: Carnivore
  • Temperament: Curious
  • DLC: The Center

Yi Ling

Yi Ling is a big, feathered creature that prefers to attack enemies that are smaller in size than itself. It might appear to be heavy and bulky, but it can easily cling along walls and glide across short distances using its short wings.  When it is threatened, it can eject a powerful spray of barbed feathers and then plow into them to rip them apart. After this attack, it is vulnerable for a small amount of time, but it can grow back its feathers fairly quickly.

How to Tame

To tame a Yi Ling, you have to feed it. It is not very aggressive so you can easily approach it and feed it. It will eat anything ranging from the weird mushrooms, congealed gas balls and many of the smaller creatures running around in different locations. It is an excellent mount and can be used ideally for hunts.

General Stats

  • Species: Yi Ling
  • Time: Late Jurassic
  • Diet: Omnivore
  • Temperament: Aloof
  • DLC: Aberration

Gigantoraptor

Gigantoraptors look big and frightening, but they do not attack you at sight. They are highly territorial and will instantly attack you if you go near their nests. It has sharp claws and will rip apart enemies with ease but on the inside, it is a real softy and will even protect the young ones of rival species.

How to Tame

Taming the Gigantoraptor is no easy feat and so far, there is no sure way of taming an adult one. If you really want to tame one, you will need to sneak into their nest and try your luck with the young ones. This is a big risk because the mature Gigantoraptors will not make it easy but if you do manage to get close to a young one without a mature one around, you can try to tame it. These tamed young Gigantoraptors will eventually mature, and they will start looking out for the young creatures of your tribe. It will nurture them and even train them to fight.

If you are looking for creature babies out in the wild, the Gigantoraptors will use its call to find orphaned babies and if you manage to bring them back with you, it will even look after them. The Gigantoraptors always bring the young ones to fight with them and are excellent in packs.

General Stats

  • Species: Gigantoraptor nutritor
  • Time: Late Cretaceous
  • Diet: Omnivore
  • Temperament: Territorial
  • DLC: Ragnarok

Rhyniognatha

Rhyniognatha is one of the most unique new creatures added to the game in ARK Survival: Ascended. While it looks insane, it can fly and skate across the water with ease. It can create a quick-hardening resin which allows it to thicken itself up for a defense boost and it can also spray hard bullet-like globs or squirt soft globs that harden on impact and incapacitate incoming enemies.

How to Tame

Taming a Rhyniognatha will take a little bit of work. First, you will need to harvest a pheromone from the male Rhyniognatha which is used to attract egg-laying females. After you obtain this pheromone, you can easily mark any creature for the female to lay her eggs on. Once done, the host will incubate and a new generation of larvae will take life in its stead. You can save any other creature who gets Rhyniognatha eggs laid on it by placing it inside a cryopod and freezing out the larvae.

General Stats

  • Common name: Rhyniognatha
  • Species: Rhyniognatha antiquagenitor
  • Time: Early Devonian
  • Diet: Omnivore
  • Temperament: Aggressive
