After Two Years of Early Access, Enshrouded Has a 1.0 Release Window

Developer Keen Games GmbH has announced the 1.0 release window for Enshrouded after two years of active development in Steam Early Access. Keen Games has been working on its brilliant open-world survival game for the past two years, and now it is ready to unveil the full form of the game. The announcement comes as the developer is preparing for the game’s second anniversary later this month.

Enshrouded was released on PC via Steam Early Access back in January 2024, and since then, the community has loved the open-world survival action RPG. The developer is planning to celebrate its second anniversary with a bang, and a brand-new Developer Diary Video is now available in which Keen Games GmbH’s Francois (Community Lead) & Antony (Creative Director) take center stage and thank everyone for supporting the development of the title, along with some new details on what we can expect from the title in the future.

Enshrouded 1.0 Release is Planned for Autumn 2026

As announced by the developer, Enshrouded is aiming to leave its Early Access phase in the autumn of 2026. There is no word on its official release date, but at least the developers have now shared a release window. There are some slight changes in the development roadmap as mentioned in the Developer Diary. The next major update for Enshrouded will be the eighth update in its Early Access period, and it will bring a wealth of gameplay improvements. These include balancing, combat improvements, polishing, and performance optimization.

The update will also bring the first form of Adventure Sharing, a feature that has been requested by fans of the game for a long time. With this feature, players will be able to easily explore the bases of other players. With this announcement, the developer has also revealed that Enshrouded has surpassed 5 million players in its journey since its launch two years ago. A brand-new chapter is on the horizon past the 1.0 release, and additional details on this future content will be released at a future date. This will include new content, further optimization, and more.

A brand-new patch for Enshrouded is also releasing on January 22, 2026, which will bring some small improvements and changes, such as:

Combat tweaks continue, modifying damage number visibility, blocking and parry animations/telegraphy, projectile spells/attack improvements in accuracy, and their related displays.
New vanity armor set: talk to the Huntress
Randomly exploding barrels placed will explode less randomly (after applying the patch, if it does explode, know that it was probably your fault).
Fixed a lot of bugs, which should improve stability and performance.

Enshrouded is yet another example that patience and perseverance always prevail. While it was already a good experience at its launch, the future updates only made it better. As it got better and better, it attracted more players, which resulted in a whopping 5 million players. Even with this amount of success, the developer is aiming to make the game even better with not just fixes but also new content. Enshrouded is currently available on PC via Steam in Early Access.
