Science-Driven Survival Title ASTROBOTANICA Enters Early Access After Surpassing 100,000 Wishlists

ASTROBOTANICA, the debut project from Space Goblin Studio, has entered Steam Early Access following a strong pre-launch performance that generated more than 100,000 wishlists. The science-focused survival game is now available for $19.99, with a limited-time 15% launch discount.

Set 300,000 years ago during Earth’s Pleistocene era, ASTROBOTANICA places players in the role of Xel, an alien botanist stranded on a hostile prehistoric planet. Rather than emphasizing combat, the game centers on botany, experimentation, and ecosystem interaction. Survival depends on cultivating plant life, crafting tools, and applying scientific discoveries to adapt to the environment.

Survive on Prehistoric Earth as an Alien Botanist in ASTROBOTANICA as it Enters Early Access

The Early Access build of ASTROBOTANICA introduces the full suite of core systems, including farming, harvesting, crafting, base building, exploration, and puzzle-solving. Players can interact with primal human tribes, treat ailments using crafted botanical tonics, and build trust to unlock new resources and construction options. Progression is tied to experimentation and knowledge accumulation rather than traditional combat upgrades.

Some of the changes made to the game, shaped by community feedback from Kickstarter backers and Steam Next Fest participants, include a redesigned inventory and crafting interface, expanded primal human interactions, environmental visual upgrades, and performance optimizations. A newly released gameplay trailer highlights these refinements.

Space Goblin Studio has also outlined a 2026 development roadmap, confirming three major content updates planned for the year. Upcoming additions include plant hybridization systems, fishing mechanics, and expanded building and crafting depth. The studio has indicated that development will continue in close collaboration with the player community throughout Early Access.

Survival games have traditionally leaned heavily on combat loops and resource scarcity tension. ASTROBOTANICA instead positions itself within a quieter subcategory of the genre, one focused on ecological systems, experimentation, and non-violent progression. Its prehistoric setting and science-forward mechanics differentiate it from both crafting-heavy sandbox titles and combat-driven survival franchises.
