Firefly Studios has released the final Stronghold: Warlords diary that details the enemies and AI that will be featured in the game. Over the course of the game’s development, Firefly Studios has been continuously releasing developer diaries detailing different aspects of the game, and now, with the launch of the game next week, we now have the final developer diary of Firefly Studios before we can actually play the game ourselves.
Stronghold: Warlords will feature four fully realized opponents in the form of historical AI Lords. These range from 300 BC China through to the 16th Century. These warlords live up to the game’s title in their unique castle designs, army composition, tactics, and taunts. The new developer diary shares additional details on the new warlords which are from ancient Vietnam to the founding of Tokugawa Shogunate. Check out the video below:
In the video, Nick Tannahill details the four enemy Warlords that you will be going up against in Stronghold: Warlords. These include Thuc Phan, Qin Shi Huang, Genghis Khan, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Each of these Warlords comes with their own unique characteristics when it comes to running their operations in the game. The game’s single-player campaign will feature over 31 missions and you can fight these Warlords in skirmish mode and online multiplayer as well.
Each of the Warlords has unique battle prowess, particular tactics, and quirks as AI opponents. Players will need to adapt and have a different strategy to fight with all of them. Nick Tannahill details:
Obviously, with our shift in setting, from the battlefields of medieval England and the Crusades to East Asia, we needed some new characters! Genghis Khan, Thuc Phan, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Qin Shu Huang were exciting prospects for the team and, after several games using the same historical settings, it really was a refreshing change of pace. The new cast of larger-than-life characters still feel very Stronghold in their behavior, visuals, humor, and stature and we can’t wait for players to do battle with them
These four characters are in addition to the game’s eight Warlord archetypes that can be controlled in the game and are scattered all over the battlefield. These warlords can be captured, upgraded, and commanded to do your bidding once they have their control. These include Warlords such as Ox, Dragon, and Horse Warlords and each of these Warlords also come with their own unique set of abilities and castle designs.
Apart from these smaller warlords, Genghis Khan and the three other AI opponents are the player’s ultimate rivals and they cannot be bargained with. They will also capture other Warlords on their own and must be defeated in their Keeps in order to claim victory over them in any given mission or skirmish battle.
Stronghold: Warlords is slated for release on March 9, 2021.
