VR Roguelike Game Yuki to Launch This Summer, Gets a New Gameplay Trailer

Yuki Launch

Developer Arvore has just launched a new gameplay trailer of its upcoming VR bullet hell roguelike Yuki. The game is also planned to be launched this summer for PC, but will also release on the PlayStation VR later this year.

Check out the new gameplay trailer of Yuki below:

YUKI is a new upbeat mix of bullet-hell and roguelike game in VR! Enter a kid’s wild imagination and fly through an anime universe controlling Yuki’s action figure. Dodge bullets and obstacles, while fighting evil forces. Enjoy this new experience and one of the best games released of 2021!

The game features a unique VR gameplay, where it adds twists to the inspirational gameplay of old-school classics like Star Fox. Yuki will challenge your spatial awareness and precise reflexes across several levels. Each of these levels is filled with procedurally placed obstacles, enemies, and bullets.

The roguelike elements in the game feature a persistent progression system that will allow you to improve your player skills and equip new power-ups, abilities, weapons at the beginning and during each run.

Kako, the game’s Creative Director, and Production Designer had this to say,

I’ve worked with illustrations for nearly 25 years. Telling stories through visual elements is my way to communicate with the world. This is something very close to my heart and YUKI gave me the chance to turn the game into a vibrant visual journey.

Unlike most VR shooters and bullet hells, YUKI players are not stationary. That sparked something, the idea that YUKI could be approached as a theme park ride. And in order to achieve the same kind of environmental storytelling I’ve studied theme park designer and illustrator Don Carson’s works and applied them to every level as much as I could. Reveal is the key. And for YUKI, knowing when to tell a story to a player that is being shot at from everywhere was our biggest challenge.

Yuki will launch this summer on Oculus Quest, Quest 2, Rift and all Steam VR platforms, with a PSVR planned for a release later this year. Post your comments below.
