Indie game developer Winterborn has revealed their debut title Externus: Path of the Solari along with first screenshots of the game and a teaser trailer. Externus: Path of the Solari is an upcoming tactical role-playing game and is the first title that Winterborn is working on. We knew for some time that Winterborn was working on its very first title and today, we get to see the very first screenshots of the game along with a short teaser trailer.
According to the official press release, Externus is set in an original high fantasy world first created by Ken Gambill and cooperatively developed with players of his homebrew tabletop game. Externus is essentially a story-driven tactical RPG that will focus on characters and their struggles during their adventures. The new teaser trailer shares a small slice of what players can expect from the full game reveal as well as a pre-alpha demo of the game planned for May 2020.

We are incredibly excited to show the first glimpse of our debut title, Externus: Path of the Solari. The game is still very early in development, but we feel we really have something special at this stage. The teaser is about highlighting what an amazing experience it’s been to see this world and these characters we developed so long ago becoming a real thing that we can share with you all.

Kent Gambill also shared his views about the formation of Winterborn:
I’ve had a story I wanted to finish telling for 12 years. Honestly, it’s been a dream of mine to make the kind of game I grew up on and I love tactical RPGs. I have this epic story I started telling when I created my own tabletop game when I was 15 years old that lasted almost a decade that I never got to finish, and I always wanted to turn that universe into a video game. I guess I didn’t have enough stress in my life!
Winterborn was formed back in January 2019 by former AAA developers Kent Gambill and Moudy Hamo alongside players of the original tabletop version of Externus. The studio comprises of passionate gamers who are working hard to bring an epic role-playing game to the players who can explore a whole new world that has been built from years of tabletop play.
Externus: Path of the Solari is currently slated for development for PC and consoles. Further details about the project will be shared in the coming days.
