Developer Jelle van Doorne has announced that the musical rhythm RPG Viola: The Heroine’s Melody is leaving Early Access on February 17, 2021. The game will cost $14.99 and will mark the full 1.0 release of the title ever since its release in Early Access. If you want to jump in the game right now, you can purchase the Early Access version for just $9.99 on Steam. The price will later increase for the full version.
Viola follows the story of Viola who after failing her violin lesson for the hundredth time, gets trapped inside her instrument’s fantastical world. As she explores this world, she is joined by a set of strange, colorful friends as she journeys through the lands of magic, monsters and music in order to find her way back home. On its core, Viola: The Heroine’s Melody combines JRPG mechanics with side-scrolling platforming.
It takes inspiration from many classic JRPG titles along with modern indie games of the same genre. You will play many turn-based battles and meet a ton of recruitable characters. Unlike normal RPGs, Viola requires you to time your button taps in order to attack the enemies and spells can only be cast by following a series of rhythm game-esque inputs. Apart from this, you will also have to cross wall jumps, triple jumps, springs, cannons, and much more.
Each level has plenty of secrets for you to find hidden in corners and crannies. You will be able to find more potions or gems to equip and customize each character’s stats. You have the choice of fighting the enemies in each level as well because they are visible right from the start and if you want to simply ignore them, you can jump around them and do not engage in any combat sequences. The game gives you the freedom to how you want to approach the game.

He is based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and is a perfectionist who loves working on games that tell epic stories. His latest project is Viola: The Heroine’s Melody which is finally releasing later this month.
