Acclaim, the iconic ’90s video game publisher, is teasing something big for next week, and it could be the possible announcement of upcoming video game projects. Earlier this year, Acclaim announced that it is coming back to the video game industry with a brand-new team, and now it looks like we are getting our first list of games, or at least, the very first game that will be coming out under their umbrella. As of now, there is no official word on what the studio is aiming to announce next week, but we have a short teaser for you. Check it out:https://youtu.be/rdutlEkEOxY
The official description under the teaser trailer reads:
The legendary name in video games returns— new worlds, bold ideas, and the next wave of unforgettable games.
From heart-pounding action to unforgettable stories, Acclaim is building a line-up that’s ready to redefine how you play.
Get ready for a new era of gaming.
This is just the beginning.
Stay tuned…
If you grew up playing games during the 1990s and early 2000s, you will be familiar with Acclaim, as its name appeared on some of the biggest releases of that era. Mortal Kombat is a huge franchise today, and you will be surprised to know that Acclaim published the first two titles in the franchise. Burnout 1 and Burnout 2 were both published by Acclaim as well. Other notable names with Acclaim as their publisher include Beetlejuice, Double Dragon II, Wolverine, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Alien 3, Predator 2, Re-Volt, Turok, Juiced, and tons of others.

Acclaim’s publishing portfolio spans over a wide variety of consoles, including NES, SEGA Genesis, PS1, PS2, PC, Xbox, Nintendo 64, SEGA Saturn, and Game Boy. Acclaim was founded in 1987 in New York, USA, by Greg Fischbach, Robert Holmes, and Jim Scoroski. It enjoyed a successful career for more than 15 years until it went bankrupt in 2004. Most of its franchises were sold to other video game publishers. The studio’s name has been in the shadows ever since, but now it seems to be coming back to life.
The new team’s focus is also on the publishing side. A video game pitching form is also live on its brand-new website and socials, where interested developers can reach out to Acclaim for publishing partnerships. The studio is keeping the same brand identity that it had back in 2004, before it was shut down. As of now, we do not know anything else apart from this. We will have to wait until next week to see what sort of video games are currently under their publishing umbrella and what the future holds for this revival.
