Twitter is planning to release a new feature called ‘Super Follow’. Super Follow will allow the users to charge their followers for exclusive content. The aim of this feature is to reduce the platform’s dependency on advertising in order to generate revenue for the company.
Twitter revealed that it is working on bringing two new features to the platform. The features were announced at Twitter’s Analyst Day Event. One of the two features is “Super Follow” in which exclusive content will be shared with paid followers. There is a wide range of things that Twitter classifies as exclusive content.
According to Twitter, users will be able to charge their super-followers for exclusive content which includes bonus tweets, newsletter subscriptions, access to community groups, videos, exclusive deals, a badge indicating support, and more.
Twitter said the following about the Super Follow feature.
Exploring audience funding opportunities like Super Follows will allow creators and publishers to be directly supported by their audience and will incentivize them to continue creating content that their audience loves.

In the above screenshot, a user is being charged $4.99 per month in order to receive a wide range of benefits. This will give publishers and creators the opportunity to be paid directly by their followers.
The other big feature Twitter revealed is called ‘Communities’. That feature will also be coming to the platform later this year and will work in a way that resembles to groups on Facebook. Communities will allow a group of people to interact and share tweets privately. Users can join groups based on their mutual interests.
Twitter also announced ‘Safety mode’ which will automatically block accounts that do not follow Twitter’s rules and policies. It will detect if a post is receiving spam or abuse and will automatically moderate the post, blocking and banning all the abusive posters.
We will have to wait and see when these features drop to Twitter and how they will affect the platform as a whole.
