The Last of Us: Part II is now right around the corner and we cannot wait to get out hands on Naughty Dog’s much-awaited sequel. The game has been in development for a long time and has fans waiting for it for almost the whole lifecycle of the current-gen PS4 however now at its end, we are finally getting the sequel to The Last of Us. As June 19, 2020, release date inches closer, Sony held a State of Play livestream last night dedicated to The Last of Us: Part II which revealed brand new details about the game.
To begin with, we finally have a clear understanding of the timeline of The Last of Us: Part II. The game is set many years after the original The Last of Us in Jackson, Wyoming where both Joel and Ellie have decided to settle down. Everything seems to be going well until something bad happens and everything around them changes drastically. This particular event sets the story for The Last of Us: Part II. Players will play through Seattle, Washington which is a quarantined zone and two major factions are trying to take control of it.
These two factions include Washington Liberation Front (WLF) and Seraphites (Scars) which looks more like a religious cult. We also got a chance to see some brand new infected enemies as well as human enemies that we will get to fight in The Last of Us: Part II. The brand new infected enemies include the Shamblers that are huge enemies filled with pus and they explode after coming close to you. Apart from them, we will also be hunted by the stealthy Stalkers who remain in the shadow and attack on their first opportunity.

Apart from the infected enemies, the game will also feature some of the most intelligent human enemies that we have seen in the franchise. These human enemies are more dangerous than the infected enemies in the game because you can fool the infected but the human enemies will learn from your mistakes and will adjust to the ever-changing fights. They will also try to flank you and try their best to overcome you with their strategies. However, you also have a few new sleeves up your sleeves such as parrying and the ability to grab enemies and use them as human shields.
Naughty Dog also showcased a brand new gameplay sequence at the end of the presentation which showed Ellie swimming in a swamp and diving under some water to get access to a building. She later grabs a woman and questions here someone called Nora. Ellie kills the woman and then heads further ahead while killing some dogs and guards with plenty of different weaponry such as knives, guns, and explosives. The video concluded with Ellie finding Nora and saying ‘Remember Me?’
As a cheeky reference, Naughty Dog also showed a particular scene where Ellie grabs an NPC and later kills her however this particular NPC is holding a PS Vita in her hands and seems to be playing Hotline Miami on it. At this very moment, you can also hear the soundtrack ‘Hydrogen’ playing in the NPC’s headphones as well further confirming that the game being played on the PS Vita in her hand is indeed Hotline Miami.
Previously, we got to know that certain players residing in the Mena region were unable to place their pre-orders of The Last of Us: Part II, and the game is reportedly banned there.
