Sony’s Unveils New Ultra-Compact Full-Frame A7C Camera

Sony A7C

After leaking a few days back, Sony has finally unveiled its new A7C Camera. The Sony A7C is an Ultra-Compact Full Frame camera. Sony unveiled a new full-frame mirrorless camera via livestream this and the new A7C camera will be the latest entry in Sony’s A7 series.

The Sony A7C is a more compact version of the Sony A7III and has the same 24MP BSI CMOS sensor, IBIS with up to 5 stops of shake reduction, oversampled 4K/30p (8-bit only) video capture, and can fire off up to 10fps at full speed.

The Sony A7C camera can shoot at up to 30 frames per second. The camera also records Sony’s S-Log2, S-Log3, HLG, along with 120FPS in full-HD. Sony achieved all this with the body itself being just 1% heavier than the A6600 which is the flagship crop sensor camera. It is quite impressive, to say the least.

On the outside, the camera features a corner-mounted 2.36M dot EVF with a rather small 0.59x magnification, a fully-articulating LCD screen for Vlogging purposes. The Input-Output options include a single UHS-II card slot, a separate microphone, and headphone jack, and a USB Type C for charging and data transfer.

Sony says that its focus with the new camera was to make a compact travel/vlogging friendly camera with the least compromises. And at just 4.9 inches x 2.8 inches x 2.2 inches (124.0mm x 71.1mm x 59.7mm) and weighing in at 18oz (509g), the Sony A7C gets the title of the world’s smallest and lightest full-frame camera with IBIS (In Body Image Stabilization) technology.

Sony also released a new collapsible FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 lens which is “world’s smallest and lightest full-frame zoom lens”. The lens kit consists of three aspherical lens elements. The Sony A7C is available for preorder starting today at just $1,800 for the body, and $2,100 for the kit lens. The shipping will start in October. You can preorder the new camera here.
