EA previously stopped selling its video games on any third-party video game platforms when it launched Origin. However, since the decline in popularity of its own client, EA has finally released that most of its modern video game library is now available on Steam, the most popular video game platform currently available in the market. Apart from the recent library, more titles will follow and all future EA games will also release on Steam along with other platforms.
At this point, only some of the AAA EA titles have been released on Steam. EA has announced in its official press release that in the near future, titles from EA’s indie development partners will also arrive on Steam for players to purchase them directly on Steam and enjoy it there without the need of EA’s Origin. EA titles currently released on Steam include:
- Dragon Age: Inquisition
- Dragon Age II
- Need for Speed Heat
- Need for Speed: Rivals
- Need for Speed (2016)
- Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville
The indie titles by EA arriving soon on Steam include:
- Unravel
- Unravel II
- Fe
- Sea of Solitude
EA has further announced that its premium service EA Access is also coming to the platform later this summer and all of these games will be available as part of its premium subscription. All future titles by the publisher will also release on Steam starting with Command & Conquer Remastered Collection. These games will support mods as well giving players a great new way to experience their titles. Mike Blank, SVP, Strategic Growth said:
We want to make it easy to play the games you love, wherever you want to play. Delivering games to the Steam community is an important step in achieving this goal. Not only are we excited to have our games on Steam, but we look forward to bringing them even more value when our subscription becomes available in the Summer.
