NACON, Cyanide Studios, and Leikir Studio have revealed a new trailer for their upcoming title Rogue Lords that details the unique Devil Mode. The Devil Mode is a unique mode featured in Rogue Lords where players have their own set of rules and can easily turn the tide of battles in their own favor by cheating. Players play as the devil in Devil Mode and can play by different rules than their opponents.
Rogue Lords puts you in the shoes of a demon who was defeated by Demon Hunters ages ago. You are now making your comeback and to regain your power, your disciples must seek out legendary artifacts. You will have a healthy choice of diabolical powers at your disposal to cheat in the game in exchange for some of your Diabolic Essence. However, your Diabolic Essence is critical for your survival and if you run out of it, your run ends in the game.
Check out the new Rogue Lords Gameplay Trailer before we jump into the details:
Since Rogue Lords is a roguelike, all maps of the game are randomly generated which means that you will have a unique run every time. Each map will offer you multiple paths and you can choose whatever path you want to take in the game. If you want to trigger a specific event in the game, you can choose that particular path for the event. However locking up a path for the devil is never final because the devil never plays by the rules and if you sacrifice some of the essence, you can find shortcuts that allow you to change your path and reach different areas unavailable before.
On your path, you will come across demon hunters who will try their best to stop you on your path. They will appear as one or more waves of enemies and your disciples will fight for you. If their health bar depletes, they can still fight but they become vulnerable to death. However, you can spend some of your essence to protect them from death as the rules are never the same for you. If you want, you can also spend some essence and lower the health bars of your enemies to kill them easily. The same goes for stealing buffs and returning debuffs to enemies.
During interactive events, you can once again use some of your essence to tip the balance in your favor to get your preferred results. If you are successful in these events, you get multiple bonuses for the rest of your run making the Devil Mode a unique gameplay mechanic that you will certainly enjoy tinkering around with. Key features of the Devil Mode include:
- If winning a fight seems impossible: you can manipulate the health bars of your disciples or enemies, steal buffs and return debuffs.
- Interactive events can provide valuable advantages if you are successful. Your chances of success depend on the actions required and the skills of your disciples. If luck is unkind to you, you can switch into Devil Mode and boost your chances of success.
- With each run, the map is randomly generated, and you will be offered several paths. In exchange for some of your health, you can take hidden routes between paths to reach places that were previously inaccessible.
