Resident Evil Requiem Parry Guide – How to Parry, Counterattack

Resident Evil Requiem Parry Guide

This Resident Evil Requiem Parry Guide details how you can parry enemy attacks using Leon’s Axe. Once you begin playing as Leon in Resident Evil Requiem, combat becomes much easier. Unlike Grace, who mostly focuses on escaping danger, Leon has access to stronger abilities, like parry skills to parry enemy attacks. Using the parry can help you avoid damage, save ammunition, and create openings to quickly defeat enemies during fights.

Parry Guide – Resident Evil Requiem

This parry ability is only available while you are controlling Leon. His main melee weapon is an axe that he uses to block incoming attacks and counter enemies. When you see an incoming attack towards you, instantly parry using these buttons: L1, LB, or the Space Bar. You should have done it right before an enemy attack connects with Leon.

Timing is important here. If the parry button is pressed at the correct moment, Leon blocks the attack with his axe and forces the enemy backward. This creates a brief opening where the enemy is vulnerable, and you can quickly strike them with the axe’s final blow or follow up with another attack. Because of this, you should consider using parry during one-on-one encounters and during certain boss fights.

Keep the Axe Sharp

Although we know that Leon’s axe cannot break and is indestructible, it does require occasional sharpening. You can see the sharpness of the axe, which is known as a durability indicator, in the bottom-left corner of the screen while playing.

If the axe becomes dull, Leon will still be able to block attacks, but it becomes harder to deliver effective hits after a successful parry. Keeping the axe sharp ensures that enemies get massive damage after they are pushed back. For this reason, it is important to check the durability meter regularly and sharpen the axe whenever you have the chance.

Parry Window

The parry window is fairly short, so pressing the button too early or too late can cause the move to fail. If you miss the timing, the enemy’s attack may hit Leon directly, which can result in serious damage and even death if you are low on power.

Even if the parry attempt fails, you can still swing the axe to attack the enemy. However, this is far less effective than landing a successful parry and counterattack.

Once you get comfortable with the timing and remember to keep the axe sharp, the parry mechanic becomes one of Leon’s most useful combat tools throughout the game.
