- Post-Game Unlocks
Using post-game unlocks can make a big difference. Items like the Matsuoka Master Manual (1000 CP) help reduce backtracking while carrying more blood, while the Infinite Ribbon removes the saving restriction entirely and allows you to do unlimited saves. It is unlocked when you complete the story in Speedrun mode under 4 hours. The Tactical Tracker (3000 CP) is also useful because it increases the credits you earn, making it easier to buy items.
- Upgrade Fully through Weapon Tuning
Upgrading your weapons fully is another key step. Unlocking weapon tuning allows you to bring weapons to their maximum potential, which helps a lot in difficult fights. This requires destroying all 25 Mr. Raccoon statues, so it is worth doing before attempting this mode.
- Survive through the Mode
Survivability is also more important than ever. Enemies deal heavy damage, and even a single mistake can get you killed. Grace can die immediately, sometimes after getting a single hit. Items like steroids and body armor can make a huge difference and should not be ignored. You should buy and use them.
- Use Infinite Ammo
Infinite ammo can also help reduce pressure, especially in sections with many enemies. You don’t need to manage your inventory. It also allows you to focus less on conserving bullets and more on surviving encounters, although you still need to be careful.
- Use Charms
Charms are another helpful addition, as they improve weapon performance in different ways, such as penetration, precision, or damage. Taking the time to find and use strong charms can make your weapons much more effective.
- Master the Art of Parrying
You should also learn how to parry properly. In many situations, you will be surrounded by enemies, and parrying can save you when shooting isn’t enough.
- Use Knife
Always keep a melee weapon ready in your inventory, since grab attacks are more dangerous here and can quickly lead to death. So, they can be used to get rid of the grab.
Differences in Insanity Mode

- Enemy Behavior
The biggest change you will notice is how dangerous enemies become. They appear in larger numbers, move faster, and attack more aggressively. You won’t have much time to think during fights, and even basic enemies can take a lot more hits before they stagger. Because of this, combat feels much more intense and riskier.
- Blister Heads
Blister Heads also show up much earlier and more often. In lower difficulties, they appear later, but here they can show up right from the beginning. Even worse, regular zombies can suddenly transform into them after being defeated, which makes every encounter unpredictable.
- The Girl & The Commander
Some enemies are also much harder to deal with individually. The Girl is now faster, tougher to stun, and appears more frequently, especially in the basement. You will need multiple strong hits, like three Requiem shots or two Molotovs, just to slow her down.
Similarly, Commander HUNK is more aggressive and can quickly end the fight if you don’t react properly. So, be ready for these fights.
- Variable Item Locations
Item placement is also changed across the game. Things you found easily before might now be in completely different locations. This forces you to explore more carefully. On the positive side, the Supply Crate becomes available right from the start of Leon’s section. This lets you access your stored weapons early if you have enough credits.
- Ink Ribbons
Saving your progress is also more limited. Just like in classic modes, you now need Ink Ribbons to save, so you can’t save freely anymore.
- Variable Safe Codes
Safe codes are also different, meaning you will need to find the correct combinations again instead of relying on memory. These are the safe codes for Insanity Mode.

- Bar and Lounge: Right 20, Right 50, Left 30

Area-Specific Changes and Tips
Wrenwood
In Leon’s opening section at Wrenwood, you don’t actually need to fight everything. You can simply move straight toward the end of the road and finish the segment quickly. While defeating enemies here can give you extra credits for later use, it’s completely optional.
Care Center
The Care Center feels very different in this difficulty. Many item locations are changed, and enemy drops are also different, which makes exploration less predictable.
For example, the chef no longer gives you the pantry key and instead drops antique coins. The Gallery shop also has different items now, replacing important upgrades like steroids and stabilizers with Handgun Ammo and a new R.I.P Knife.
The pantry key itself is moved to a closet in the waiting room, which you can only access after getting the Level 1 ID wristband. Right next to it, you will also find a special blood specimen that only exists in this difficulty.
Some enemies are also tougher than before. The singer can no longer be taken down with a single perfect Requiem shot. On top of that, the antique coin that used to be on the piano is no longer there. However, many regular enemies drop antique coins upon killing them.
Even certain key items are relocated. The B934 item is now found in the East Wing Dining Room instead of its usual spot, so you will need to explore more carefully than before.
Leon’s Section
During Leon’s part in the Care Center, using the chainsaw might seem like a good idea because of its high damage and ammo efficiency. However, its slow attack speed can leave you exposed, especially when enemies surround you. It is better to use it carefully, preferably when enemies are isolated.
Another option is to use up all of Leon’s Requiem ammo during this section, since Grace will still begin her segment with one Requiem ammo regardless.
One important change is that the MSBG 500 shotgun does not appear here anymore. Because of that, you should buy a shotgun from the Supply Crate before entering the boss fight with Chunk.
Care Center Basement
The basement becomes more difficult mainly because of The Girl. She doesn’t just appear in scripted moments anymore; she shows up more often and moves faster, making it harder to explore safely.
Courtyard
In the courtyard section, you will face another major change. The Classic 70 rifle does not spawn here anymore, so you will need to buy a rifle before entering this area.
Additionally, enemies are more aggressive, with both a zombie and a Blister Head becoming active here. Because of this, using a fast and reliable weapon is important. A rifle like the Marksman 1A works well due to its high fire rate and quick reload. Since the Requiem isn’t available in this section, using a weapon like the Ghost Grudge can also help.
Water Treatment Plant
The final encounter with The Girl is much harder in Insanity mode. To stun her, you will need around two to three Requiem headshots or two direct Molotov hits.
Because of this, you should make sure you have enough resources before starting the fight. If you are low on supplies, you can also stay near light sources to keep her away and give yourself some breathing room.
East Raccoon City
As you move into East Raccoon City, the difficulty continues to increase. Some areas will trigger extra enemy spawns as soon as you enter, which can quickly overwhelm you.
You should use body armor in this section. Stronger enemies, including BSAA soldiers, start appearing here, and they can deal heavy damage if you are not prepared.
ARK
The ARK section is one of the toughest parts of the game. Enemies here, especially the soldiers, are much stronger and more dangerous than before. If you haven’t already upgraded your defense with body armor, this is the time to do it.
After defeating HUNK, more soldiers will appear in the next room. You should heal immediately and take cover, as they attack quickly and can overwhelm you if you are not ready.
If your main goal is just to complete the Insanity challenge, there is a shortcut. You can destroy Elpis to finish the objective, which allows you to skip the Victor boss fight entirely. This can be very helpful if you are running low on ammo or resources.
Recommended Weapons Guide for Insanity Mode in Resident Evil Requiem
Choosing the right weapons can make a big difference throughout your run.
- The Silencer 9 is a strong pistol option because it deals serious damage while still having a good ammo capacity.
- The 990-TAC is useful for handling multiple enemies thanks to its semi-auto firing and accuracy when upgraded. When you use it with Bear Charm, it will be very helpful at medium range.
- For ranged combat, the Marksman 1A stands out due to its fast reload and strong performance in defensive situations. When you use it with Connoisseur Charm and BSAA Charm, it will be very helpful for sniping and ranged combat, respectively.
- The Clatter Carbine is also a solid choice, especially in fights where you need to hit multiple targets quickly. Use it with the S.T.A.R.S Emblem Charm for enhancement.

How to Unlock Insanity Mode

Rewards for Completing Insanity Mode
After you complete the Insanity difficulty, it gives you a reward of whooping 40,000 CP. This completes the Remarkable Agent challenge and gives you enough points to unlock many items from the Special Content Store.
