Procedurally Generated Climbing Game Rogue Climber Enters Early Access

Rogue Climber Early Access

Solo developer Christian Tuttle of Imaginary Game Studios has announced the Early Access release of the procedurally generated climbing game Rogue Climber on PC via Steam. The Early Access version of Rogue Climber brings with it five complete chapters, featuring new environments, hazards, and gameplay challenges. The Early Access version builds on the original demo and makes it grander in every respect.

While players were able to get a small taste of the game’s parkour-style movement and roguelike structure, the Early Access grants access to complete five chapters. Each chapter has its own unique visual theme and sets of obstacles that you will need to overcome and reach the top. These range from glowing ruins and industrial towers to stranger, more surreal heights. Every time you step into a world, you will encounter a different experience because of its procedurally generated levels. The game has a library of handcrafted 3D models designed specifically to match the tone of the game and it uses these models to craft a different world every time.

Each level also has some unique mechanics and atmosphere which makes every climb feel unpredictable and repayable while ensuring a consistent visual identity and deliberate sense of structure. This ensures that players do not get bored climbing the same worlds again and again. The complete list of mechanics and features of the Early Access build include:

  • Updated visuals and mechanics in each Chapter
  • New traps, enemies, and upgradable items
  • Free Play Mode, an endless remix of levels and themes
  • Light narrative additions to tie everything together

The developer is promising additional content for the game in the future with updates and content drops. He is also actively seeking feedback from players so that he can shape future updates according to fan demands and requirements. He comments:

I want Rogue Climber to be the kind of game where you improve through play. It’s all about mastering movement, learning from each attempt, and feeling that real sense of progress. Early Access is the perfect space to keep evolving the game with community input.

Rogue Climber is now available on PC via Steam in Early Access for $8.99. For a limited time, the developer is offering the game with a 25% launch discount as well. You can jump into the game right now and give your feedback to help shape the future development of Rogue Climber. The game is also offering a free demo which allows you to try it out before committing to the price.
