According to publisher Activision Blizzard, Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 will not be releasing this year in 2021. The sequel to the massively popular game Overwatch and the next title in the Diablo series are both highly anticipated games that fans have now been expecting for some time.
Unfortunately, we will not be getting any confirmation about both the titles in the upcoming BlizzConline 2021, as many were speculating. The publisher confirmed this in the latest investors call, where they mention both Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 will not launch until at least 2022.
On the other hand, the publisher has stated that they have made significant progress in developing other key intellectual properties, which they expect will further add to the growth in 2022 and beyond.
Both Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 were revealed back in 2019 at the BlizzCon event, where we learned that Overwatch 2 will be getting co-op story missions, new maps, a new mode, and at least one new character called Sojourn. The second title in the series would also come with visual upgrades and a new UI as well.
Diablo 4 has now been in development for quite a long time now, while the company revealed that the game is still in the works when it was revealed at BlizzCon 2019. Last year, the senior encounter designer, Candace Thomas revealed a brand new monster tyle called Cannibals that will be featured in the upcoming game.
Candace detailed that the Cannibal family has four members and each of the family members comes with their own unique weapon and a different silhouette or stance to help players identify the different members. Two of these family members are melee fighters where one of them wields a two-handed greatsword cleaver while the other fights with a lightweight halberd.
