Nvidia Might be Releasing 3080 Super and 3070 Super GPUs Next

NVIDIA GPU Shortages

According to the latest rumors, NVIDIA is planning to release SUPER variants of the RTX 3080 and 3070. This is the latest of the rumors regarding NVIDIA’s RTX 3000 series based on the Ampere architecture. This rumor comes from well-known leaker Kopite7kimi (via Videocardz) and according to him, NVIDIA is preparing the RTX 3080 SUPER and RTX 3070 SUPER for release in the future.

According to the reports, the SUPER cards will not affect the other cards in the release pipeline, which reportedly are the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3060. According to the speculations, the RTX 3080 SUPER and 3070 SUPER may feature 16 GB of GDDR6X and GDDR6 memory respectively. Information about the 3070 Ti, however, is very limited, and there has been no mention of this card for a while now.

According to the current information, the RTX 3080 Ti is going to be released alongside the RTX 3060 Ti which will feature higher VRAM capacities than the non Ti variants. The leaked information shows that the RTX 3080 Ti will feature 20 GB of GDDR6X VRAM while the RTX 3060 will have double the VRAM of the RTX 2060 (6 GB vs 12 GB).

As far as the RTX 3080 and 3070 Super are confirmed, currently, there is no concrete information about the specifications of these cards. NVIDIA had initially planned high VRAM for the original RTX 3080 and 3070 cards but had to scrap them due to the limited supply of GDDR6X memory.

But now the memory supply is much better and NVIDIA is planning to release the high VRAM cards in the form of SUPER variants. NVIDIA themselves have also confirmed that supply would get better by the end of the first quarter of 2021.

It is speculated that NVIDIA will release the SUPER cards with high VRAM capacities, 16 GB for the RTX 3080 SUPER (GDDR6X) and 16 GB for the GeForce 3070 SUPER (GDDR6). We will have to wait and see what NVIDIA will do and when they will announce these cards.
