If you try fighting the Demon of Envy during the main story, the battle can feel unfair because your level and damage output will likely be too low. Since this encounter is optional, there is no need to rush. It is far more manageable after finishing the story and reaching around Level 130 or higher. At that point, the difficulty drops heavily.
How to Defeat the Boss
You can find this boss in the Heian region, inside Hachijo at Anneibo Temple. Start at the shrine, turn to your left, and climb the wooden scaffolding nearby. From there, you can drop down into a cave that is slightly hidden from view. The boss waits at the very end of that cave. On the map, this location is marked with a golden chest icon, and you will also pass a spirit vein on the way.
A Ninja-style build using Dual Ninja Swords works extremely well here. Focus your setup around strong Summoning Seals, such as Ibaraki Doji, and invest your stat points mainly into Magic to boost their power. With the proper summoning upgrades unlocked, you can repeatedly cast your strongest summons and end the fight very quickly. When handled this way, the Demon of Envy becomes a short and simple fight rather than a serious challenge. After defeating it, make your way to the last and final boss: Demon of Obsession, to earn the Platinum Trophy.
