New Puzzle Game Hack Grid Takes Gaming Back to the DOS Era

Review: Hack Grid

Hack Grid is a new upcoming puzzle game by Daisy Games that is a love letter to DOS gaming. Hack Grid is a unique puzzle game that features simple gameplay and a UI interface that sends you back to the era of DOS gaming. Before windows, there was DOS and DOS games were the beginning of PC gaming.

In Hack Grid, each piece is unique, and your goal is to have only one piece left on the grid at the end. Since each piece in the game is unique, it comes with its own set of rules as well. Some pieces can move, some can change color, some absorb other pieces as well while some simply serve as obstacles in the puzzle. You will need to solve each grid’s puzzle by moving around the pieces until only one piece is left on the board that will determine your victory.

Hack Grid

Probably the most notable feature of Hack Grid is its retro visual and audio style. The retro visuals showcase a DOS video perfectly with the mainboard in the middle with additional controls and information on the right side of the screen. The left side of the screen shows information about the game and the tiles that you choose in the game. The game also emulates the Sound Blaster 16 audio that was one of the main features of the DOS games back in the 1980s.

Key features of Hack Grid include:

  • 60 levels with increasing difficulty
  • Speedrun mode with a built-in timer
  • In-game jukebox. Choose which songs from the retro soundtrack you want to hear.
  • Colorblind support
  • Mouse only controls, with re-bindable hotkeys
  • Not a fan of the CRT-look? Turn it off!
  • 8 languages available (Czech, Dutch, English, Finnish, German, Hindi, Russian, and Spanish)

Hack Grid is now available on Steam and you can head over to the game’s official page to check out additional details about the game or purchase it and get busy hacking.
