How to Obtain Tar and Glimpses in Mortal Shell
The sources for obtaining both Tar and Glimpses are different in Mortal Shell. For Tar, every enemy that you kill with give you Tar. The Tar collected is displayed at your bottom right corner of the screen. There are two numbers on this side of the screen. The number on the left represents your collected Tar while the number on the right of the Tar shows your current amount of Glimpses.
To collect Glimpses, you have two primary sources. One of them is enemies. Not every killed enemy will drop Glimpses for you to collect. Some enemies might drop them while some might not so it depends on your luck and enemy type. In addition, certain items marked as Glimpses or generic give you Glimpses when you consume them. The number of Glimpses you get change when you get familiar with these consumable items. Some of the items that give you Glimpses include Glimpse of Affection, Glimpse of Futility, Glimpse of Wisdom, and more.
Use of Tar and Glimpses
Tar and Glimpses will be used in various tasks and activities throughout in the game however the most important use for them is purchasing skills and Shell upgrades. There are multiple merchants in Mortal Shell that will allow you to spend your Tar and Glimpses for different items.
The one that you will be visiting the most is the Sester Genessa in the Fallgrim Tower. You will find this NPC on the second floor of the main hub and she will take your Tar and Glimpses in exchange for Shell upgrades and abilities. Similarly, other merchants have unique and different items for you to purchase as well.
