Flowing Steps stands out as one of the most useful abilities when it comes to exploration in MIO: Memories in Orbit. This skill allows you to walk across Gloomwater. Because of this, it becomes essential for players who want to fully explore the map and reach the alternate ending in MIO: Memories in Orbit. This MIO: Memories In Orbit Flowing Steps Guide shows you how to get the Flowing Steps easily.
Flowing Steps Guide – MIO: Memories in Orbit
To begin working toward Flowing Steps, you must first reach the Crucible. After completing several prerequisite tasks and finally arriving there, you will meet Tomo and Samsk. They inform you that the Crucible is not functioning properly and that two separate data sets are required to understand the issue.
From this point, the area opens up in two directions. You can approach either one first, as the order does not matter. Before heading out, it helps to get the Crucible spawn point by dropping through the gaps in the floor.
Enabling Grounded Assist in the Assists menu is also highly recommended, as it can save you from restarting long sections.
Crucible Report: Path 1 – Recovering the Crystallisation Data
One of the data sets is found by heading toward the right side of the Crucible. This path focuses on precise movement and timing, with spinning blades acting as the main obstacle. Each blade features small arrow markings that indicate the direction it will rotate once struck in the middle.
These arrows are your only real guidance, so watching them closely is critical. As you move forward, each platforming section becomes longer and more demanding. Taking damage at the wrong time can send you back to the last spot you were at, forcing you to repeat large portions.
There are no shortcuts here, and success here depends on your patience and control. One helpful trick is to move through the center of the blades. This area does not cause damage and often gives you better positioning. Using the Hairpin, followed by a downward strike, can provide more height and space, which makes the jumps more manageable.
Once you finally reach the data set, a door opens that leads you straight back to Tomo. After a brief explanation and some added background details, you will be sent off to retrieve the second data set.
Crucible Report: Path 2 – Securing the Purified Catalyst Data
The other data set lies on the left side of the Crucible and brings a different kind of challenge. This section revolves around manipulating Gloomwater Pumps to lower water levels while navigating platforming sequences.
Each segment only truly ends once you reach a platform that stays above the Gloomwater. A single mistake can drop you back to the start of that section. On top of that, time works against you, as the Gloomwater slowly rises. Moving too slowly will result in drowning, forcing another retry.
Between the tougher platforms, there are small zones where you can pause and reset your focus. However, stopping for too long is risky, as the rising water will have no mercy on you.
After passing the Nacre Basin, you will reach the final and most frustrating part of this challenge. Inside a large tube, the Gloomwater begins to rise immediately. Taking any damage here sends you all the way back outside, making careful movement essential.
Unlocking Flowing Steps
Once both data sets are delivered, the long test finally comes to an end. With these tasks complete, you unlock Flowing Steps, allowing you to walk freely across Gloomwater. A nearby Gloomwater-covered route gives you a chance to test the ability right away, leading to additional areas that were previously inaccessible.
