I Hate This Place is based on the popular comic book series by Kyle Starks and Artyom Toplin. In the game, you step into the shoes of Elena and begin her fight for survival when she and her friend unknowingly summon a malevolent force known as The Horned Man. Stuck in a hostile world, you will need to find anything and use it to survive. You must choose your battles carefully against formidable monsters, most of whom hunt by sound.
For making it easier to survive, you will scavenge every corner of the Rutherford Ranch, including haunted forests, a derelict town, infested bunkers, and more, to gather resources and craft items that will help you in combat. During the daytime, you will scavenge and build up your campsite site and during the nighttime, you will need to survive until the morning. You will encounter enemies during the daytime as well, but really aggressive enemies will appear during the nighttime. You will only have your flashlight to navigate the darkness, which also adds to the challenge.
Based on your playstyle, you can either take on enemies head-to-head or try to use stealth to your advantage. Since most of the enemies hunt by sound, you can try to evade them, but if you decide to fight them, you should be well-prepared because the enemies are brutal. You can use sound to use advantage and try to lure the creatures away from the path and into deadly traps to kill them without much trouble. The game features a distinct ‘80s art style as well, and it combines bold colors with retro comic book aesthetics and plenty of gore.
Store pages for I Hate This Place are now live across all platforms, and you can add it to your wishlist right now ahead of its release. On PC, you can check out a free demo for it through its Steam page as well.
