Silk is an important resource in Hollow Knight: Silksong. You obtain it by hitting and killing enemies, and when the game begins, it is fairly limited in size. As you progress in the game, you will need additional Silk for performing different abilities that you unlock in the game. Every ability requires Silk, and some will require quite a bit of Silk, so you would want to expand your Silk Spool to ensure that you always have enough Silk for your abilities. This Hollow Knight: Silksong Spool Fragments Locations Guide will help you find all Spool Fragments so that you can increase your Silk bar in the game.
Spool Fragments Locations Guide – Hollow Knight: Silksong
You must collect Spool Fragments to increase your Silk Thread bar at the top-left corner of the screen. These are spread all over Pharloom, while some are available via merchants or rewards for completing Wish quests. In total, you need to find and collect 18 of these Spool Fragments to maximize your Silk Thread bar. Collecting 2 of these will increase your bar.
Spool Fragment #1:
The very first Spool Fragment is found in Bellhart. Complete the My Missing Corrier, and it will become available at the local merchant Frey. Speak with Frey at his shop in the middle of Bellhart, and you can buy it from him for 270 Rosary Beads.
Spool Fragment #2:
The second Spool Fragment is found in Mosshome. Head to the elevator that takes you to Mosshome from Bone Bottom. The location is marked on the map below:
From this location, start going to the right by clinging to the outreaches in the wall. There are two walls like this here that you will need to dash and cling to to proceed ahead.
From the second wall, dash and jump to the platform ahead with the dead bugs.
Keep going right, cross the two gaps up ahead using the platforms, and then enter the next area. In the next area, there will be some flying enemies. Jump up the platforms here to reach the top area, which has the spikes. Quickly run to the left and exit the area at the top.
In the next area, interact with the holder to claim the Spool Fragment.
Spool Fragment #3:
The next Spool Fragment we will collect is sitting in the Weavenest Atla. You will need the Needolin upgrade to gain access to this area. Once you are in the Weavenest Atla, head to the location marked on the map below:
Start by crossing the pond on the left and going further ahead. Before the body of the big dead bug, there is a path leading up. Go up and turn left to go further ahead.
There will be another giant dead bug up here. Cross it and then jump down, but you need to interact with the holder while falling down. Stick to the middle and then quickly press Up when Hornet is in front of the holder to collect the Spool Fragment. You can glide to have more control over the fall here.
Spool Fragment #4:
This one is located in Deep Docks. In the chamber below the bench area. We have marked the location on the map below where you need to start:
Start going right. This area is full of lava, so do not step on the lava for too long or you will get damaged. Make sure that you keep jumping to avoid getting damage. Keep going right until you come to large cauldrons suspended in the air with coal in them. Use them to start going up.
Keep going up, and you will find the Spool Fragment on top of a cupboard.
Spool Fragment #5:
The next Spool Fragment is present in Deep Docks as well. Head to the location marked on the map below:
This is a tough one to get. You will start in an area that is filled with lava. At the last cauldron platform, jump to the right, dash, and then double jump up to cling to the wall ahead.
Climb up the wall, and you will soon start seeing spikes on either side. Jump and dash around this section to arrive in the upper area.
Make sure to cling to walls where needed. Move ahead, and then at the end, glide down between the spikes to reach the area with the lava at the bottom. On your right side, there will be some red flowers. Dash towards them and use them as support to continue further ahead, and then head up to the opening in the wall.
Keep moving up. There will be some spikes on the sides, so avoid them and keep going up. When the path narrows, go up and then quickly come down because a big rock will fall down. Once the rock falls, go back up and turn to the left side to progress into the next room.
The holder will be right up ahead with the Spool Fragment. Grab it and then hit the switch ahead to open a shortcut to go back easily.
Spool Fragment #6:
For the next Spool Fragment, you must head to Greymoor, at the location marked on the map below:
For this Spool Fragment, this is all a vertical climb. It is not too tough unless you know where to go. Start at the location, and you will see three balloons up ahead. Using the dive attacks on these balloons, climb up.
After the third balloon, continue to the left side to land on the platform. From there, you will see another balloon on the right side. Climb further up.
You will need to glide here a little to reach the next platforms. When you come to the spikes on the right side, use the first balloon to reach the next bigger one, and then jump towards the third one, which is a little to the left side.
After the third small balloon, go left, and you will land on solid ground. From there, go up and then right to reach back to the area where you were jumping on the balloons earlier. Cross the gap to the first platform and then, from there, jump right and glide to the wall. Use the cling to grab here and then start climbing up.
From the platform at the top, you can just dash left to the next platform where the Spool Fragment is present.
Spool Fragment #7:
You will get a Spool Fragment as a reward for completing the task of finding all of the 14 Lost Fleas across Pharloom. Once you have all 14 Fleas, head over to the Fleamaster Mooshka in any region and turn in the quest. Once done, you will be rewarded with a Spool Fragment.
Spool Fragment #8:
This one is located in Grand Gate. We have marked the starting location on the map below:
Using the movable platforms, start making your way up. These platforms go down once you land on them, so you will need to be quick on your feet.
At the very top of this chamber, you can cling to a wall and move further up to solid ground.
Climb up and then head to the left side, where you will find the Spool Fragment.
Spool Fragment #9:
You can buy a Spool Fragment from Grindle, the merchant found in Blasted Steps. Grindle can be found on the map below:
You will need to dish out 680 Rosary Beads for this one.
Spool Fragment #10:
There is another Spool Fragment that you can find in the border area of Mount Fay and The Slab. To start, you will begin in the area marked below on the map in The Slab:
From this location, you have to start climbing. Use double jump and dash to reach the wall above and then jump to the hanging platform up ahead.
At the top of this hanging platform, jump further up to reach the wall and then climb up into the next area. This will lead to a tight chamber. Run all the way to the left into the next area. Once you exit, use the wall on the left side to climb up.
At the top, go left, and you will find the Spool Fragment. Collect it.
Spool Fragment #11:
Next, we are heading down to Underworks and its fiery pits of lava. Get to the to-left chamber of Underworks as shown in the map below:
From the starting location, jump down below the platforms.
Land on the floor at the bottom and hit the switch to open a path. Jump through this opening to go further down.
The area ahead has Steam jets on either side, so make sure to jump in the middle quickly for safety. When you get a window, jump left and down, and go left to enter the next area.
In the next area, jump up and head further left to find another switch in the wall. Hit it and it will open a path. Go inside this room and head further left. Cross the spikey wheels and you will find the Spool Fragment ahead.
Spool Fragment #12:
For this one, we are heading to Whispering Vaults. To find it, you must head to the following starting location:
From the starting point, head to the right side and enter the next room. There is a switch ahead on the elevator. Hit it, and it will go down. At the bottom, head left into the next area.
You will arrive at the farthest corner of Underworks. This area has a floor filled with spikes, so you cannot go down. On your left side, you will come across some floating platforms. Use them to go to the left side of the chamber.
When you reach the platform after which you have the cling rings, you can jump off and start gliding to the bottom. Your goal is a platform at the bottom of the chamber, which leads to another path down through the floor.
Go down through here while gliding and keep going down until you arrive at the platform with the flying enemy around. At this point, head left by jumping and gliding to reach the platform on the lower left section of the room.
Go to the wall on the left side and hit it to break it open. Go inside, and you will find the Spool Fragments.
Spool Fragment #13:
In the bottom right section of Cogwork Core, you will find the next Spool Fragment. Head to the location marked on the map below:
This location has hot steam vents on either side of the corridor, so you have to dash through them. Wait for the upper vent to close and then quickly dash through to reach the other side. There is a switch here on the wall. Hit it, and it will open a path ahead. Head inside the next room, and you will find the Spool Fragment inside here.
Spool Fragment #14:
For this one, you will need to be in the upper section of Memorium. Head to the location marked on the map below:
Head left into the next area by crossing the red spikes. Jump over the gap in the floor and keep heading left into the next room. There are some platforms in this next room with grass growing on them.
Avoid them and continue going left until you come to the vertical drop. Drop down and glide for better control. You need to cross two paths on the right side before you arrive at the bottom, which is filled with spikes.
Land on the platform and then head to the right of the area. This is a tough section ahead because it is filled with spikes, and you must dash, jump, and then glide through the spikes here.
In the lower section of this chamber, there are two walls without spikes. You will need to use them for cling grip. Continue heading right to the next area.
In the next room, you will find the Spool Fragment. Pick it up.
Spool Fragment #15:
There is another Spool Fragment found in High Halls. Head to the location marked on the map below to begin.
From the starting location, double jump up and then dash towards the platform above.
After landing on this platform, jump up to reach the next area. In this area, your goal is to climb as well. Use the walls, platforms, and cling rings to move further up. Avoid the spikes here.
There are two spinning wheels up ahead. Use the cling rings in them to climb further. Cross the second spinning wheel, and there is a tight opening that leads up into the next area. Go up here. The Spool Fragment is sitting in the room above.
Spool Fragment #16:
You can purchase another Spool Fragment from the merchant located in Choral Chambers. You must first complete The Lost Merchant wish, and then you will find Jubilana at the location marked below:
You will need 500 Rosary Beads for this purchase.
Spool Fragment #17:
You can acquire a Spool Fragment by completing the Balm For The Wounded Wish in Choral Chambers. You can pick it up from the Wish Wall in Choral Chambers. We have marked its location below:
Once the Wish is fulfilled, Sherma will give you the Spool Fragment.
Spool Fragment #18:
For the final Spool Fragment, we are heading to Whiteward. Check the location marked on the map below to see where you need to start this hunt:
At this starting point, there is an elevator on your right side. To gain access to the Spool Fragment, you need to go down the elevator, which is only possible if the elevator is above you. Go right, and then up to the top.
There is a pressure plate here. Press the pressure plate, and it will call the elevator up. Once you press the pressure plate, quickly go back down to the platform where we started.
Once the elevator goes up, jump down, and you will find the Spool Fragment on the left side of the room.
