You start Ghost of Yotei with a single armor set, and as you progress through the main story and explore different regions, you can find different armor sets to make yourself stronger. Apart from the basic armor, you can find and unlock an additional 12 armor sets. Each armor’s unlock requirement is unique, so you will need to explore some side locations and complete some story quests. If you find all armors, you will also unlock the For All Occasions trophy. You can not only find new armor in Ghost of Yotei, but you can also upgrade the armor after finding it. Below you will find all sorts of information regarding armor in the game.
How to Upgrade Armor:
As you find and collect different armor sets in the game, you will gain different passive bonuses. Each armor comes with its own unique passive bonus. You can also make them even stronger by upgrading them. To upgrade an armor set, you can go to an armorer that you have unlocked so far. Exploring different regions will give you access to additional armorers found in different Inns or villages around the map.

Following is a table that tells you the location of each armor in Ghost of Yotei:

| Armor of the Undying | Shikari Plain | You can get it from completing the Mythic Tale: The Undying Samurai in the Shikari Plain region. |

| Crimson Kimono | Teshio Ridge | You can unlock it through Mythic Tale: The Crimson Kimono in Teshio Ridge. |
| Dragonfly Armor | Tokachi Range | You can get it by doing the side tale known as The Dragonfly Armor. |
| Fundoshi | Hot Springs | It can be unlocked after you complete/find all 16 Hot Springs in the game. |
| Ginji’s Guard Armor | Oshima Coast | It can be unlocked from the Sensei Tale: Pride Before Tea in the region of Oshima Coast region. |
| Mercenary Attire | N/A | It is automatically unlocked during the story when you reach the sixth main tale, The Oni. |
| Nine Tail Armor | N/A | It is automatically unlocked during the story when you reach the seventh Main Tale: The Kitsune. |
| Onryo Armor | N/A | Your default armor, which is automatically equipped during the game. Upgrades come through the story automatically. |
| Robes for Sitturaynu | Nayoro Wilds | You are rewarded with this by doing Side Tale: The Heart of an Ainu, located in the region of Nayoro Wilds. |
| Spider Lily Armor | Tokachi Range | You can unlock this through the Mythic Tale: The Spider Lily General in Tokachi Range. |
| Taro’s Armor | Tokachi Range and other camps | To obtain this, you have to find a little boy named Taro. Sometimes he randomly appears and gifts you this armor when you make a camp. He can also be found at camps throughout the entire game, especially in the south of the Tokachi Range at Shizunai Woods. He also gives you armor as a reward for baking food for him. |
