SkyTale Studios has just announced the sequel to their popular space shuttle landing game, F-Sim Space Shuttle 2, the game where you take the role of an astronaut captain in charge of landing the space shuttle safely on the ground after a successful space flight mission.
The space shuttle program might have retired over a decade ago now, but it does not stop many from remembering how important and inspiring the program has been to science and space fans over the course of its duration. From building what we now know as the International Space Station, to the Hubble telescope are all technologies carried up by the space shuttle program.
Having being unique in its own way, the landing was equally a spectacle as its epic launch that nobody really got bored of watching. Landing a space shuttle like a glider and returning it safely back to Earth was a challenge most thought to be impossible at first.
While you may have just seen a space shuttle land on TV or on YouTube, experiencing it from the view of the captain is another realistic experience that F-Sim Space Shuttle brought for us. The recently announced sequel will now come with incredible detail, combining realistic dynamics and fun gameplay. It is a complete rewrite, featuring next-generation, desktop-level graphics on iPhone and iPad.
The new game now comes with tutorials and autopilot assist modes to make it easy for beginners. On the other hand, veterans can compete on leaderboards with an added extra challenge that simulates system failures, emergency procedures, and managing turbulent wind conditions.
F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 is planned for a release early next month and will be available for $4.99 from the App Store. The developer has also stated that an Android version will soon follow, while also planning to launch it on PC and consoles.
