Indie studio Kronos Interactive has unveiled Echoes From Ciudadela, a first-person adventure puzzle game in development for PC and coming to Steam, with a playable demo planned for release at a later date.
The newly announced title blends narrative-driven exploration with mechanical puzzles inspired by historic inventions, placing players in the role of an adventurer uncovering the secrets of a long-sealed mountain civilization.
First-Person Puzzle Adventure Echoes From Ciudadela Officially Revealed for PC
In Echoes From Ciudadela, players follow Katari, an ambitious explorer tracing the final research of his late father. The journey begins with the discovery of a journal that leads Katari to Ciudadela, a mysterious mountain that has remained sealed for centuries.
As players descend deeper into the mountain, they encounter a series of puzzles tied to forgotten technologies and ancient machines, gradually uncovering both the truth behind the lost civilization and the meaning of Katari’s father’s final request.
At the core of the experience is a puzzle system that emphasizes observation, timing, and experimentation. Many challenges are built around interactive machinery inspired by real-world historical concepts, requiring players to manipulate environments rather than rely on traditional combat mechanics.
A central gameplay tool is Katari’s Balearic Sling, a multi-purpose device used to activate mechanisms, break seals, and interact with distant or obscured elements. As the game progresses, the sling can be upgraded to unlock new ways of solving puzzles and navigating Ciudadela’s evolving interior.
When challenges become more complex, players will rely on Katari’s journal that provides contextual clues, with new entries unlocking as puzzles are completed. An optional hint system is also included for players who want guidance without fully removing the challenge.
Ciudadela itself serves as both setting and mystery. The underground environment shifts as players advance, revealing ancient relics, dormant technologies, and artifacts attributed to legendary historical figures such as Archimedes, Leonardo da Vinci, and Galileo.
According to the press release, the game’s environments range from expansive Patagonian landscapes above ground to sci-fi-inspired caverns beneath the mountain, with an emphasis on environmental storytelling and atmosphere rather than linear progression.
As Kronos Interactive’s debut project, Echoes From Ciudadela places strong emphasis on presentation and immersion. The game features full voice acting, spatial audio design, and environmental sound cues intended to support puzzle-solving without breaking immersion.
Players can engage with the narrative at their own pace, choosing how deeply to explore optional lore elements through journals and environmental details rather than relying on traditional cutscenes.
Echoes From Ciudadela is currently in development for PC and will be available on Steam. A demo is planned to be released ahead of launch, though no specific date has been announced at this point.
