What are Perks in Deep Rock Galactic

Perks are bonuses and abilities in Deep Rock Galactic that are completely optional. You do not essentially need them to play the game but if you unlock them and use them, you get different bonuses and abilities which come super handy while playing the game. All classes in Deep Rock Galactic can use these perks once they have been unlocked in the game. Each class comes with an Active Perk slot and a Passive Perk slot. Active Perks are activated on command while Passive Perks grant their bonus at all times and do not require manual activation. Level up your character and you will unlock additional perk slots for your character.

How to Unlock Perks in Deep Rock Galactic

Perks can only be unlocked in Deep Rock Galactic after your complete Milestones. Complete Milestones and you will earn Perk Points which then can be redeemed at the Key Performance Indicator Terminal back at the Space Rig. These Milestones are simply different tasks that you can complete in the game. Milestones also have different levels so each time you complete a level for a Milestone, you will earn Perk Points. Complete as many of the Milestones and you will have plenty of Perk Points to unlock Perks and further customize your character in the game.

Perks List in Deep Rock Galactic

Perks in Deep Rock Galactic are listed in tiers and there are 9 tiers of these perks. To move to higher tiers, you must first unlock a certain number of perks in the previous tier. You cannot just purchase perks in any tier right from the start. This mechanic encourages specific builds and allows you to create a balanced character. Some of the perks come with both an Active and a Passive bonus. We have detailed all of them below for your reference.

Tier 1 Perks

The table below lists all of the perks found in Tier 1.

Field Medic 3 Active: Revive a downed teammate once per mission.

Passive: Reviving speed is increased by 15%.

Friendly 2 Friendly Fire damage is reduced by 50% for you and your teammates
Heightened Senses 3 Active: Kill and escape from a grab once per mission.

Passive: Warns you when an enemy is about to grab you.

Second Wind 2 Increases your spring speed by 8% after you run for 5 seconds.
See You in Hell 3 Active: If you are downed during a mission, you can trigger a neuro-pulse explosion 3 times during the same mission that electrocutes and scares away enemies.

Passive: Melee damage boosts your melee attack damage.

Thorns 2 All incoming melee damage sends back 6 damage.

Tier 2 Perks

To unlock this tier, you must purchase three perks from Tier 1. The table below lists all of the perks found in Tier 2.

Field Medic II 5 Active: Allows you to instantly revive a teammate once during a mission.

Passive: Further increases your reviving speed by 20%.

Heightened Senses II 7 Active: Allows escaping grabs with a confirmed kill 2 times during the same mission.

Passive: Grab alert comes sooner than before.

Second Wind II 3 Run for 4.5 seconds and your spring speed is increased by 8%.
See You in Hell II 7 Active: Increases the time you can activate the neuro-pulse explosion in the same mission to 3 and increases the blast radius.

Passive: Melee damage boosts your melee attack damage.

Thorns II 5 All incoming melee damage sends back 12 damage.
Veteran Depositor 2 Reduces all damage by 20% within 7m of the MULE and increases your resource deposit speed in MULE and Drop Pod by 20%

Tier 3 Perks

To unlock this tier, you must purchase three perks from Tier 2. The table below lists all of the perks found in Tier 3.

Field Medic III 7 Active: Allows you to instantly revive a teammate once during a mission.

Passive: Further increases your reviving speed by 25%.

Heightened Senses III 11 Active: Allows escaping grabs with a confirmed kill 2 times during the same mission. Reduces cooldown time to 5 seconds.

Passive: Grab alert comes sooner than before.

Hover Boots I 3 Allows you to hover in the air in 2 seconds and burns any enemy unlucky to come under you.
Iron Will I 3 Gives you a temporary second chance to get back in the fight with full ammo and additional strength for 6 seconds. Your movement and damage are increased and you are more resistant to slowdowns. After 6 seconds, you die.
Resupplier I 2 After using a resupply, all your weapons are reloaded, you gain 10% bonus health and your resupply speed at the Resupply Pod is increased by 10%.
Second Wind III 5 Run for 4.5 seconds and your spring speed is increased by 12%.
See You in Hell III 11 Active: Further increases the blast radius and decreases the cooldown time required for the neuro-pulse explosion to just 1 minute.

Passive: Melee damage boosts your melee attack damage.

Thorns III 8 All incoming melee damage sends back 18 damage.
Veteran Depositor II 3 Reduces all damage by 20% within 7m of the MULE and increases your resource deposit speed in MULE and Drop Pod by 30%

 

Tier 4 Perks

To unlock this tier, you must purchase four perks from Tier 3. The table below lists all of the perks found in Tier 4.

Berserker I 3 Upon activation, you enter Berserk mode for 10 seconds during which your melee damage is increased and you gain a powerful and fast pickaxe power attack.
Elemental Insulation I 2 Your elemental damage resistance is boosted by 20%.
Field Medic IV Active: Allows you to instantly revive a teammate once during a mission. Revive causes nearby enemies to flee.

Passive: Further increases your reviving speed by 30%.

Hover Boots II 5 Allows you to hover in the air in 2.5 seconds and burns any enemy unlucky to come under you.
Iron Will II 5 Increases the duration from 6 seconds to 8 seconds.
New Passive Perk Slot I 15 Unlocks another passive slot allowing you to equip 2 Passive Perks at the same time.
Resupplier II 3 After using a resupply, all your weapons are reloaded, you gain 15% bonus health and your resupply speed at the Resupply Pod is increased by 30%.
Second Wind IV 7 Run for 4 seconds and your sprint speed is increased by 12%.
Sweet Tooth I 2 Red Sugar 10% additional health.
Thorns IV 11 All incoming melee damage sends back 24 damage.
Veteran Depositer III Reduces all damage by 20% within 7m of the MULE and increases your resource deposit speed in MULE and Drop Pod by 40%

 

Tier 5 Perks

To unlock this tier, you must purchase five perks from Tier 4. The table below lists all of the perks found in Tier 5.

Elemental Insulation I 5 Resistance to all elemental damage is increased to 25%.
Hover Boots III 7 Allows you to hover in the air for 3 seconds.
Iron Will III 7 Increases the duration from 8 seconds to 10 seconds.
Resupplier III 5 After using a resupply, all your weapons are reloaded, you gain 20% bonus health and your resupply speed at the Resupply Pod is increased by 40%.
Strong Arm I 2 Flare throwing force is increased by 20% while Gems and other heavy object throwing force is increased by 10%.
Sweet Tooth II 5 Red Sugar heals 20% additional health.
Unstoppable I 2 Movement speed is increased by 10% while carrying heavy objects and environmental slow-down effects are reduced by 20%.
Veteran Depositor IV 7 Reduces all damage by 30% within 7m of the MULE and increases your resource deposit speed in MULE and Drop Pod by 50%

Tier 6 Perks

To unlock this tier, you must purchase five perks from Tier 5. The table below lists all of the perks found in Tier 6.

Berserker III 7 Reduces cooldown time even further to 6 minutes.
Dash I 3 Allows you to perform a short dash for getting out of trouble.

Hover Boots IV 9 Increased your midair hover time to 3.5 seconds.
Iron Will IV 9 Increases the duration to 12 seconds from 10 seconds.
Resupplier IV 7 After using a resupply, all your weapons are reloaded, you gain 25% bonus health and your resupply speed at the Resupply Pod is increased by 50%.
Strong Arm II 3 Flare throwing force is increased by 30% while Gems and other heavy object throwing force is increased by 10%.
Sweet Tooth III 8 Red Sugar grants 30% additional health and 20% movement speed bonus for 10 seconds.
Unstoppable II 3 Movement speed is increased by 15% while carrying heavy objects and environmental slow-down effects are reduced by 30%.

Deep Pockets I 2 Increases the storage capacity of your mineral pouches by 5.
Shield Link I 3 Active: Allows you to overcharge your teammate’s shield to 300% for 20 seconds.

Passive: You and your teammate’s shields recharge 50% faster when you are within 4m of each other.

Strong Arm III 5 Flare throwing force is increased by 40% while Gems and other heavy object throwing force is increased by 20%.
Unstoppable III 5 Movement speed is increased by 20% while carrying heavy objects and environmental slow-down effects are reduced by 40%.
Vampire II 3 Medium or large creatures grant 3 health when killed with a melee attack.

Tier 8 Perks

It’s a Bug Thing I 2 Causes all Loot Bugs to explode when you get within 2m of them.
Shield Link II 7 Active: Allows you to overcharge your teammate’s shield to 300% for 30 seconds.

Passive: You and your teammate’s shields recharge 50% faster when you are within 4m of each other.

Strong Arm IV 7 Flare throwing force is increased by 50% while Gems and other heavy object throwing force is increased by 20%.
Unstoppable IV 7 Movement speed is increased by 50% while carrying heavy objects and environmental slow-down effects are reduced by 50%.
Vampire III 5 Medium or large creatures grant 4 health when killed with a melee attack.

Tier 9 Perks

To unlock this tier, you must purchase five perks from Tier 8. The table below lists all of the perks found in Tier 9.
