Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven Materials Guide – All New Materials, How to Get

Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven Materials Guide

The Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven gives your lamb and their followers plenty to manage, from tough boss fights to restoring the town and enduring harsh winter conditions. Progressing through all of this isn’t possible without the new resources, as they affect nearly everything. These materials are used for construction, keeping your cult warm, and even acting as a form of currency for unlocking decorations and powerful gear. This Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven Materials Guide shows where and how you will get all the new materials.

Materials Guide – Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven

There are many new resources/materials introduced in this new expansion. These are detailed below:

Rotburn – To Keep You Warm

Rotburn is the most important material you will work with in Woolhaven. It plays a major role in keeping your cult warm during snowy weather, making it something you will always want to collect.

You will come across Rotburn in many places as you play.

  • It can appear inside Dungeon Chests
  • Drop from enemies or bosses when they are defeated
  • Can be found by breaking a special Rotburn crystal during dungeon runs
  • You can also produce by using the Refiner
  • Gather it from Rotburn Mines
  • Even gain it from fallen Rotten Followers. Certain tarot effects, like Lost Bones, can also cause enemies to drop it

Among all these methods, the most reliable ways are mining it or grabbing it from dungeon nodes marked by flaming skulls. Since Rotburn is constantly consumed as the expansion progresses, picking it up whenever you see it is a good thing.

Wool – Woolhaven’s Main Currency

Wool acts as the primary currency in this game. It is required for crafting outfits, purchasing items around Woolhaven, and offering them to the dead people’s graves throughout the town. Some of these spirits demand large amounts of Wool, i.e., 100, meaning you will need a good supply to get rewards from them.

  • The best way to earn Wool is by Shearing Livestock
  • Can be found by destroying Frozen Ancestors
  • Using Shearing Blade Tarot Card, or
  • Ascending a Prime animal.

While it can also appear in dungeon chests or drop under special conditions during runs, those methods are inconsistent. Once you build a Ranch and start raising animals, you can regularly shear them to build up your Wool stock.

Although buying animals from Baraq costs Wool, it is a good investment. Expanding your Ranch allows you to keep more animals at once, which increases long-term Wool production. Later, unlocking a Hutch lets you breed livestock instead of buying more, saving resources. Upgrading the Ranch also allows you to assign a follower to handle shearing automatically, making the process much easier.

Charged Shards – Craft Materials

Charged Shards are mainly used for making decorations, crafting Pure Yewbark, and building Heaters that protect your base from snow buildup. You first need to unlock Lightning Rods to earn these without any restrictions.

Early on, you will mostly find this resource inside dungeons by opening chests, destroying power generators, or defeating bosses. Later, you gain access to Lightning Rods, which significantly improve Charged Shard collection.

When Lightning Rods are placed around your base, these structures passively gather Charged Shards during blizzards. You simply collect them from the storage chest attached to each rod. Because Heaters are so important for base maintenance, building multiple Lightning Rods is highly recommended.

Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven Materials GuideRotgrit – A Secondary Material

Rotgrit isn’t a very useful resource and only becomes available once your Furnace reaches level three. At this stage, the Furnace will begin producing Rotgrit automatically, outside in a chest, as it consumes fuel.

Its only use is refining it into Rotburn through the Refiner. While this option exists, it is rarely necessary. Because there are many Rotburn Mines from where you can get this Rotburn.

Cursed Yewbark and Pure Yewbark

Yewbark comes in two forms, and both are important: Cursed Yewbark and Pure Yewbark.

Cursed Yewbark is found during dungeon runs. It usually drops from enemies or appears in dungeon chests, but there’s no guaranteed way to farm it consistently. Its availability depends heavily on luck during runs in the interior mountains, although it shows up often enough while progressing through The Rot.

Once you have Cursed Yewbark, you can turn it into Pure Yewbark back at your base. Using the Refiner, two Cursed Yewbark combined with two Charged Shards will create one Pure Yewbark.

Pure Yewbark is essential for restoring Woolhaven and unlocking the game’s new items.
