Crimson Desert Hunting Guide – How to Hunt, Farm Hides, Challenges

Crimson Desert Hunting Guide

This Crimson Desert Hunting Guide details all the tips and tricks to hunt animals for valuable resources. Hunting in Crimson Desert is one of the best ways to collect important materials like meat, bones, and different types of hides used for crafting and upgrades. With the right setup and locations, you can farm these resources quickly and efficiently.

Hunting Guide – Crimson Desert

Before you start hunting, make sure you are properly prepared. You will need a horse to chase animals easily and a good bow. Carrying many arrows, around 100 is a safe amount, so you don’t run out during long hunting sessions.

It is best to hunt in open countryside areas, far away from towns. Look for groups of animals such as deer or goats. When you find them, try to target male animals first since they usually drop more resources.

While riding your horse, move close to the animal until your character locks on. Once locked, shoot the animal with arrows. Most animals go down in about three shots. After that, you can skin them to collect items like meat, bones, horns, and hides. You can sell the corpse, but it usually gives very little money, so it is better to focus on the materials instead.

Why Do We Hunt

Hunting is mainly done to collect different types of hides, which are required for crafting and upgrading gear. These include short hair, long hair, thin, thick, and sturdy hides. Each type comes from different animals, and some can be harder to farm than others.

Using special tools like the Goblin King’s Treasure Dagger can improve your efficiency, as it gives a chance to obtain extra hides when skinning. Bringing stronger weapons or poison arrows can also make hunting faster, especially against tougher animals.

All Hides Farming

The following are all the tips and tricks to farm hide in Crimson Desert.

Short Hair Hide

Short hair hide is one of the easiest resources to farm. It usually comes from animals like goats, deer, sheep, and cows. Among these, goats are the best target because they appear in large groups and are easy to hunt.

You can find plenty of goats in the starting regions, especially in slightly elevated areas. Some locations have large open plateaus filled with goats and deer, making them perfect for farming. If animals stop spawning, you can fast travel to reset the area and repeat the process.

An efficient method is to use poisoned arrows on groups of goats. This allows you to take down multiple animals at once, making farming much faster.

Long Hair Hide

Long hair hide is mainly obtained from wolves and boars. Boars are a better choice early on because they are passive and often appear in groups.

There are areas southeast of Hernand where you can find large numbers of boars along with other animals. These locations are ideal for farming. Since boars can move around a lot, using arrows, especially poisoned ones, makes hunting them much easier.

Thin Hide

Thin hide comes from small animals such as baby deer and other small creatures. While you can collect it alongside other hunts, a more efficient way is to focus on animals like raccoons.

Raccoons usually appear in small groups and are easy to kill. A good farming route involves starting from your camp and following rivers or natural paths where these animals frequently spawn. Along the way, you can also collect extra resources like feathers and additional meat.

Thick Hide

Thick hide is dropped by large animals such as bears, rhinos, and elephants. Among these, bears are one of the best early-game options.

There are specific spots where bears spawn regularly, often marked as stronger enemies on the map. Even though they are tougher than normal animals, they are manageable and usually drop multiple thick hides. Sometimes, they may also drop special items like cloaks, which can be useful early in the game.

Later in the game, you can hunt rhinos and elephants in the desert or savannah regions, but they are much harder to defeat.

Sturdy Hide

Sturdy hide is obtained from large reptiles, especially monitor lizards. These creatures are found in certain regions and are actually quite easy to defeat because they are slow and have low health.

A good farming area is in the northern regions of Demeniss, where these lizards spawn frequently. By walking around and checking your mini-map for enemy markers, you can quickly locate them. Each kill provides sturdy hide along with bones and poison.

This makes them very valuable, as you can also collect poison to craft poison-tipped arrows, improving your hunting efficiency even further.

Shop for Small Needs

If you only need a few hides, you can visit a tannery in any town. These shops usually sell small amounts of different hides. However, for larger quantities, hunting is always the better option.
