Crafting Guide – Crimson Desert
Most crafting recipes are not available from the start and must be discovered through books and scrolls. When you find one, you need to inspect it properly by using your lantern. This will unlock the recipe and store it in your Knowledge menu. After that, the item itself is no longer important. So, you can sell or discard it without losing the recipe.
Getting and Upgrading Gear
If you want better weapons or armor, towns have different vendors that cover each need. The Smithy is where you craft items using recipes you’ve unlocked, and it also lets you improve your gear through Refinement. Other shops focus on specific items, like equipment stores for weapons, armor, stones, and ammo, tailors for cloth outfits, and tanneries for leather materials.
Some places even offer special armor depending on your contribution level in that region. As you move to stronger upgrades, you will need rare materials along with Abyss Artifacts, which are also used for unlocking skills. You might also see small bags being sold, which increase your inventory space and help you carry more items.
Buying Ingredients and Cooking Food
For cooking, you can collect ingredients from different vendors like butchers, grocers, and fishing shops, while some items can also be bought from random merchants you meet on the road.
Shops don’t stay empty forever. They refresh their stock after 24 hours, so you can revisit them later to buy more. To kill time, you can sleep on a bed or do some quests or missions.
Once you have what you need, head to a cooking pot or campfire and prepare meals. Food comes in different quality levels, including Modest, Filling, Satisfying, and Hearty, and better meals restore more health. You can also experiment by swapping ingredients with similar ones, but sometimes this can result in a weaker dish.
Using Tools to Gather Resources
To collect materials yourself, you will need basic tools like a pickaxe for mining, an axe for cutting trees, and a fishing rod for catching fish.
These tools can be found in Provisioner shops if you don’t come across them naturally. Hunting animals also plays a big role, and using ranged weapons, such as Damiane’s gun and Kliff’s Bow, makes it easier to take them down before collecting meat and hides.
Gathering Without Tools (Force Current)
In Crimson Desert, you don’t always have to rely on tools to collect materials, as you can unlock a skill called Force Current for a faster approach. This ability is part of the green Spirit skill tree and becomes available once you meet a few requirements, including upgrading Axiom Force and Force Palm to Level 2, along with using an Abyss Artifact.
After unlocking it, you can aim at trees or ore deposits using your Axiom Force and then charge a heavy attack to release an explosion, using Force Current. This blast breaks the resource instantly. Then, you can pick up the materials.
Using Your Camp for Supplies
Your Greymane camp, located in Howling Hill, is another useful way to gather resources without doing everything yourself. From here, you can send your companions on missions to different places, and they will return with a variety of materials and food items like wheat, fruits, eggs, and more.
After they return from the mission, they store all of the rewards in a Supply Box, so you can collect them whenever needed. As you continue upgrading your camp, you also unlock features like farming and animal ranching, which provide a good flow of materials over time.
