The game has 9 Containment Units that you need to locate, solve puzzles, and collect the rewards. When you enter one, the game will show you immediately which containment unit you have entered. From there you have to look around for a white fish symbol that will indicate where the unit is located.
Some containment units can only be reached if you have a specific ability unlocked, which is required to access the unit. This means that you can return later when you have the required abilities or power-ups to use for puzzles. This guide will also detail the abilities required for each containment unit.

Containment Unit #1
This is a pretty easy location to go to, and it can be found in the Military Junkyard. When you enter this area, all you have to do is to look for the glowing fish symbol, and head inside to the containment unit no.1
There is no puzzle around here to solve, so all you are left to do is to collect the reward and head out back again. The reward in this Containment Unit is the Echolocation DNA, which allows you to locate edible corpses.
Containment Unit #2
The second Containment Unit can be found in the Frontier, and it requires the Xiphorrhea ability that allows you to break open wooden barricades. The Containment Unit itself will be towards the entrance of BSL-4 Research Ward, where you have to go all the way around and then into the pipe leading down to the next area.
When you drop down, head left and you will start to see the Containment Unit symbol. Follow this path and then use the Xiphorrhea ability to remove the wooden barricade blocking the entrance. Head inside, clear the area and then open the Containment Unit to get the Polycheiria DNA which will grow a third prehensile tentacle.
Containment Unit #3
This Containment Unit requires you to have the Xiphorrhea, Hydrophilia, and Photokinesis ability. The Containment Unit No. 3 is located in the Uranium Mines, where it can be found after the first hive. Once again, you will need to use your ability to break open the wooden barricade and head forward.
When you reach the Containment Unit itself, you will see that there is a console with a button just above the unit. When you activate the button, it will open the door leading to the Containment Unit, but will also activate the deadly lasers. These lasers can be avoided by using Photokinesis ability. Do this after you dump the biomass in the outer room to the left.
With the Photokinesis ability active, stay in one place, and then shoot a web at the power generator to recharge it. repeat this process from the right to the top, and then from the left side of the button. This will allow you to drop down into the area where the Containment Unit is located, and you will get the Electrosis ability which increases your maximum energy level.
Containment Unit #4
This Containment Unit can be found in the Botanical Gardens, which will be on the left side from the first hive. You will find an enemy here guarding the entrance of a room, which leads you straight to the containment unit itself. This containment unit requires the Parasitism ability which will allow you to take control of the enemy and use them for the puzzle.
The first thing you need to do is to swim under the locked area, and then use the Parasitism ability to take control of the guard. Now use him to open the locked door so you can pass through. To solve the puzzle, you need the guard again, which means that you have to bring them along from the previous area to the containment unit. Now use him to reach the switch on the top left side of the room. This will allow you to get the Pyrophilia DNA which will increase fire resistance and will take longer to set the biomass afire.
Containment Unit #5
This Containment Unit can be found in the Leviathan Reef Base, and it requires the Hydrophilia and Harpagorrhea abilities to complete the puzzle and get the rewards. You will come across a blockage on the right that you need to remove with one of the abilities.
Now continue through this tunnel and use your shield ability to avoid the incoming explosives. Once you reach the containment unit, you will get the Pyrophilia DNA which will increase fire resistance and will take longer to set the biomass afire.
Containment Unit #6
This Containment Unit can be found right in the Relith Science HQ, where it will be to the right of the exit. Head to this area and then use the Harpagorrhea ability to clear the path ahead. Your next task is to deposit the biomass and then make your way to the Containment Unit itself.
When you enter the room with the Containment Unit, you will find a puzzle here that needs to be solved. To do that, go to the switch and then activate it. this will activate the lasers, prompting you to use the Photokinesis ability. Head down using this ability towards the second switch in the area below and take the biomass you previously deposited into the water in the new area. Now you have to activate the buttons again to drop to drain the biomass through the pipe. All you are left with is to go down and take the biomass, break open the barricade, and grab the Electrosis DNA which increases your maximum energy level.
Containment Unit #7
This Containment Unit can be found in the Nuclear Power Plant and it requires you to have the Keratosis ability. In this area, you will see water and a pipe going down below. Head down this pipe and use the ability to shield yourself from the explosive. Continue down until you reach the Containment Unit area.
Go through the door where the switch is located and activate it. This will bring out the lasers again. First, you have to drop the biomass in the area above this room, and then go through the lasers with your ability. From this point, you are left with using the mind control ability to take over the guard and use him to reach the explosive below. The explosion will open the door to the left, where you will find the Electrosis DNA which will increase your maximum energy level.
Containment Unit #8
This containment unit can be found in the Armored Warfare Facility and it requires the Keratosis ability to shield from explosives. The area leading towards the containment unit is from the exit of the facility.
Use your ability to carry the explosive towards the rock blocking your path on the right. The explosion will clear the path and will take you straight to the Electrosis DNA, which is your reward in this containment unit.
Containment Unit #9
This containment unit can be found in the Bunker area, and it is also the last Containment Unit in the game. Make your way to the room with the Nuclear Core, and you will see the containment Unit entrance. Head inside and open it to get the Polycheiria DNA which grows a third prehensile tentacle
