Book of Travels

Developer Might and Delight has revealed that its upcoming title Book of Travels Early Access launch has been delayed to August 30th. The original date of the launch was set for 8th August but now has been pushed for just over a couple of weeks.

Creative Director Jakob Tuchten had this to say,

Quality is the DeadlineRight now we’re in a good place, but the fine-tuning we’ll do in these extra three weeks will ensure that the depth of the gameworld meets our ambitions, the same ambitions we’ve outlined to our backers and community. Quality is and has always been our only goal, and we have faith in our community and hope that they’ll understand that the result will be better with the wait.

Ready your pack, grab your walking stick and step into a world of mystery and legend. Craft a unique character and immerse yourself in the enchanted lands of Braided Shore. Set your own goals and adventure alone or together with Travellers you meet on the road in this serene TMORPG.

The game is a new take on classic MMo that invites you and players to dive into character creation before setting out on a unique journey of exploration. The game features a hand-crafted aesthetic with sparsely populated world that will make for a unique immersive individual game experience. Players can explore alone or together, shaping their adventures as they go. Book of Travels also adopts a simple, emote-based form of communication that removes language barriers so that players all over can engage.

Key Features:

  • Authentic roleplaying and individual playstyles. Pick one of 20+ Forms in a detailed character creation sheet that focuses on personality and identity rather than stats and classes. The game allows you to play in a style that matches your character and to set your own personal goals. Are you a danger-seeking adventurer, a stoic practitioner of magic binding, or a carefree tea drinking gambler?
  • TMO – Tiny Multiplayer Online. Other players are few, but your paths will cross – it’s up to you to choose to travel together or go it alone. Find vehicles to reach far flung places or just amble through woods together. The absence of guilds and social structures makes your temporary fellowships unique and memorable.
  • Communicate using symbols. Learn to use a unique set of symbols to communicate with other players. Unlock new symbols as you encounter new features and places (e.g. you’ll gain the symbol for “city” only after you’ve visited a city). The limitation in communication lays the foundation for a rich and friendly multiplayer experience.
  • Innovative RPG systems. Define your character by unlocking and mastering 300+ abilities, magical skills and passive feats that will have a huge impact on your character and open up different experiences of the game. Gain experience in numerous ways: by exploring, being courteous, gathering and trading. Battles can be rewarding, but you will learn more in defeat than in victory.
  • The world is a hand painted diorama. Experience a unique game view perspective ‘painted’ in a richly detailed artstyle. Click to walk like old school RPGs but in scenes with 3-dimensional depth.
