A new community update video for Baldur’s Gate 3 shows the multiplayer cinematics of the game, and details the new Crowd Choice feature on Stadia and Twitch Integration.
Diving deep on the details for the game, we now know that Baldur’s Gate 3 will feature 1.5 million words with fully cinematic dialogues.
Check out the community update video below:
The update video reveals how the game uses a mix of performance capture and bespoke adaptive cameras which allow the game to be able to react to whoever you are and whatever you do. This new feature will work both in multiplayer along with its single-player mode. With the new streaming integration features, viewers who don’t even own the game will have a say in the player’s journey.
Larian’s Cinematic Director, Jason Latina explained about the new features:
You’re telling your story, and we’re shooting it for you. We’re taking that camera down from being above the players, and down into the drama, right into the action.
I can’t think of another Early Access game that’s done cinematics, on this level. There’s a lot of games where the moment you add cinematics, they have to get smaller. We didn’t want to do that.
When a streamer enables the Crowd Choice to their YouTube viewers, the streamer can present a choice to the viewers like a poll, and then decide on choices based on the majority vote on what the viewers want. Streamers don’t necessarily have to follow what the viewers choose, but it is an interesting way for streamers to interact with their viewership.
On the other hand, Twitch integration works by numbering each dialogue option, which corresponds to the viewer choices. This feedback is seamlessly integrated into the game, where both streamer and viewer will see each percentage vote next to each dialogue option. What’s more, players will be able to interact with the Twitch overlay to access the player’s inventory, character sheet, skills, and spells.
Both the features will be available when the game launches in Early Access on PC and Stadia. Post your comments below and let us know what you think of the new Baldur’s Gate 3 features including Crowd Choice.
