ASUS Reveals VivoBook Flip 14 Featuring Intel Iris XE Max GPU, Tiger Lake CPU

ASUS has released a new 2-in-1 notebook and it will be the first notebook laptop to feature Intel’s DG1 discrete GPU. The new notebook is called the ASUS VivoBook Flip 14 and features Intel’s 10nm Tiger Lake CPUs and Intel Iris DG1 Discrete Graphics which is Intel’s first discrete graphics chip for the notebook segment.

The ASUS VivoBook Flip 14 comes in two different Tiger Lake CPU specifications, which are part of Intel’s 10nm 11th Generation Family. The two configurations for the VivoBook Flip 14 include Intel’s Core i7-1165G7 and Core i5-1135G7 mobile CPUs. Both CPUs feature 4 cores and 8 threads and the i7-1165G7 comes come with 12 MB cache while the i5-1135G7 has 8 MB cache. The boost clock speeds for the Core i7 are rated at up to 4.70 GHz while the Core i5 chip operates up to 4.20 GHz.

The 2-in-1 notebook can be configured with a maximum of 16 GB LPDDR4X RAM running at 4266 MHz, with the base models coming with 8 GB memory. For Storage, options include a base configuration of 128 GB PCIe SSDs which can be increased up to 1 TB capacity. There is also Intel Optane memory onboard (H10) with a capacity of 32 GB for high-speed caching.

The most eye-catching specification of the ASUS ViviBook Flip 14 is the Discrete Intel Graphics card to be featured in the notebooks. Currently, the specs for the Intel DG1 GPU, also named as the Intel Iris Xe Max are not mentioned but they are expected to carry the same 96 EUs or 768 cores as the standard Iris Xe GPU but with higher clocks and its own dedicated memory. The DG1 GPU is configured with 4 GB of VRAM and it is likely that it could be GDDR6 based.

The ASUS VivoBook has a 14” LED-backlit display with 1080p resolution. For I/O, the notebook has a Thunderbolt 4 USB Type-C port, 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, 1 USB 2.0 port, 1 HDMI output, 1 MicroSD card reader, 1 security lock, and the DC-in power plug for charging.

The VivoBook also has WiFi 6 (Gig+ 802.11ax) and WiFi 5 capabilities along with Bluetooth 5.0. The notebook is fast charging capabilities and takes 49 minutes to charge to 60%. It comes with a 42W battery and a 65W power adapter.

Currently, the pricing and availability of the ASUS VivoBook Flip 14 are unknown.
