Developer and publisher System Era Softworks has announced the arrival of the latest Custom Games Update for its interplanetary survival sandbox game Astroneer. Astroneer is not a new game because it was released all the way back in December 2016 however the developer is keeping the game alive thanks to regular updates and the latest one is proof of it. Along with the addition of custom games, the new update also brings some bug fixes with it.
The Custom Games Update brings a much-wanted feature to the game, the ability to create custom games and adjust parameters to your own will. With the new update, you can now create new saves with unique characteristics such as hardcore permadeath, setting up exact scenarios, and speed runs. The custom game tools added will allow you to make the experience your own and then share it with other players from around the world as well. You can also modify other settings such as changing the amount of oxygen produced by sources, picking a different starting planet, and more.
If you do not want to choose your own settings, you can also choose from some preconfigured custom game modes. You can jump into these modes instantly without changing a single thing from the menu. The game system will prepopulate these and will pull configurations from the community to share with everyone else. You can also access previously created and saved configurations in the Custom Game Mode menu. Once inside this mode, you can navigate between the different pages of options and once you are happy, you can save, share and even launch your brand-new configuration.
You can find all of the details on two new pages in Astropedia. The first page will allow you to see the active custom game settings in a list and the second will allow you to view the credits of the game and see who has worked on Astroneer to date. You can also unlock a new Old Gold palette by completing the game in hard mode on any save. For a complete list of bug fixes, you can check out the official patch notes shared on Steam by the developer.
Astroneer is currently available on PC via Steam and if you are interested in playing it, you can head over to Astroneer’s official Steam page and check it out. Apart from PC, the game is also available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox. Astroneer is also celebrating a major milestone of 12 million players.
