Tek Spear is not just another weapon in ARK: Lost Colony; it completely changes how combat and movement work. This weapon allows you to deal massive damage, move at insane speed, and even block incoming attacks. Once you learn how to use it properly, the Tek Spear becomes one of the strongest tools. In this ARK: Lost Colony Tek Spear Guide, we will see how you can use the Tek Spear effectively in the game.
Tek Spear Guide – ARK: Lost Colony
The damage given by Tek Spear is extremely serious. When player melee damage is leveled normally and boosted with Battle Tartare, the spear can deal thousands of damage every second. If you stay locked onto a single target and keep attacking, the damage keeps stacking, reaching around four to five thousand damage per second. This makes it powerful purely because of player stats, not because of any hidden buffs.
Primary Attack Combos
The Tek Spear uses a repeating attack combo. The attacks rotate between these four:
- Stab
- Twirl
- Twirl
- Slam (serious damage burst)
That slam is the strongest part of the combo and deals much more serious damage than the normal strikes. As the combo loops automatically, you can keep attacking without resetting, which makes it very effective for sustained damage on bosses or tanky creatures.
Tek Spear Toss
One of the things that we can do with the Tek Spear is its charged throw. By holding both left and right clicks together, the spear charges up. When a blue indicator appears, it means the spear can stick to whatever you aim at. Once thrown, the spear embeds itself into terrain or enemies and deals impact damage of around 52, even against creatures with armor.
Teleporting to the Spear
After the spear is stuck, you can instantly teleport to its location by using right click. This allows you to jump straight into close-range attacks. You can immediately combo into melee attacks. You can even throw the spear high into the air and teleport mid-flight, which opens up powerful movement options. When combined with a parachute, this becomes an extremely fast way to travel.
The blue indicator is very important to know. When active, the spear travels in a straight and fast line instead of a slow arc. This results in instant sticking and a very quick teleport. This mechanic allows you to skip walls and turrets, climb high structures, and reach places that would normally require climbing.
Air Ground Slam
While in the air, the Tek Spear allows you to perform a downward slam to return to the ground quickly. This move does low damage but is useful for controlling your landing. In some cases, timing the slam correctly can cancel fall damage and requires practice.
Spatial Teleport
Press Z to spatial teleport. This teleport can move you in any direction: forward, backward, left, or right. These can be chained together and combined with spear throws and dodges, allowing you to cover massive distances in a short time. With a full Tek Suit, this movement becomes even more powerful.
Blocking Melee Attacks
Tek Spear can block incoming melee damage. When held correctly, it can reduce or even fully negate damage from enemies. However, blocking consumes durability, so it cannot be relied on endlessly. If the spear breaks, you will need a replacement.
Deflecting Projectiles
The spear also has a special deflect move for projectiles. Hold Right Click to block, and Left Shift to activate deflect spin.
By activating this, the Spear spins and deflects incoming shots. This can completely remove projectile damage while active, but it drains quickly. Because of the drain, timing is important, and it cannot be used continuously.
Using the Tek Spear for defense wears it down over time. Blocking and deflecting reduce durability faster than normal attacks. For long fights or heavy combat scenarios, carrying extra spears is good and recommended.
Once mastered, the Tek Spear allows advanced movement options. Skilled players can chain teleports, stay airborne for long periods, and climb vertically using throws and parachutes. These techniques take practice but can give a massive advantage in both combat and exploration.
