Many people think it isn’t possible to get a Reaper in Lost Colony. The good news is, it is possible. You just need to know where to go and what to expect, because the game does not explain this at all. The process isn’t fast, but if you follow the steps and stay patient, you can get your own Reaper King on Lost Colony. In this ARK: Lost Colony Reapers Guide, we will detail everything that you need to know about finding and taming Reapers in the game.
Reapers Guide – ARK: Lost Colony
To start, you will need to travel to 5.7 latitude and 58.4 longitude. These coordinates lead you to a hidden tunnel. When you first enter it, the tunnel does not seem important and seems like a normal tunnel. It is long, organic, and looks like it simply passes through to the other side.
However, if you keep going down, you will eventually reach a radiation area. This is where a Reaper Queen can spawn. At the moment, this is the only known way to encounter a Reaper Queen on the Lost Colony map.
Preparing Before You Go Inside
Before entering the radiation zone, preparation is very important. Lost Colony does not have light pets, so you cannot rely on them for protection or damage bonuses.
You must have some form of radiation resistance. A TEK suit works best since it has no time limit and only loses durability. If you don’t have one, a Lamprey can also be used, but only for a short amount of time.
Your tame will also take radiation damage while inside the zone. To prevent this, make sure to use Mushroom Brew on your tame.
Fighting the Reaper Queen
Because there are no light pets on Lost Colony, you won’t be able to apply the usual light debuff to the Reaper Queen. This means she will take much less damage than normal. Attacks that would usually deal hundreds of damage may only hit for a few tens. Example: Normal hit: 450 damage, and without light: 90 damage. A Therizinosaur is a good choice for this fight, since it can survive for long periods and handle sustained combat. Be ready to spend a lot of time here, because this is not a quick fight.
While fighting, make sure the Queen does not bite nearby creatures. If she does, she will instantly heal, undoing all your progress. You should also deal with Nameless whenever they appear, as they can quickly overwhelm the area. Using attacks that hit multiple enemies at once helps keep things under control, like ground slam. If you have access to items from other maps, charge-based tools can help. Things like Plant Species Z, charge lanterns, charge guns, light pets, Goo Gun, or Cosmo can apply charge light. If you manage to use these, the Reaper Queen will take noticeably more damage.
Reaper Impregnation Process
Once the Reaper Queen’s health drops below 2,000, you will notice a purple glow around her. This means she is ready. At this point, you need to get off your tame and make sure the Queen is focused directly on you. When she is properly aggroed, she will grab you and perform the impregnation attack.
You mustn’t be exposed to radiation after this happens. Any radiation damage will instantly remove the embryo and force you to start over. After being impregnated, you will have roughly four minutes to gain experience. The goal during this time is to earn enough XP to get up to 75 bonus levels on the Reaper. Killing high-experience creatures or farming quickly works fine here.
Raising the Baby Reaper
Before the baby is born, build a small metal box. It does not need to be big, just a couple of walls high, a few foundations, a ceiling, and one doorway. Put a large amount of meat on your character and stand inside the enclosure. When the Reaper is born, it will attack and kill you. When this happens, it will automatically take all the meat from your body and feed itself. This allows the baby Reaper to grow almost instantly without you having to manually raise it.
After respawning, go back to the enclosure, claim the Reaper, and close the door. Once the Reaper reaches about 10% health, it will stop attacking and fully transition into a Reaper King. From here, you can cryopod it or let it finish growing normally. Either way, you’ve successfully added one of the strongest creatures in the game to your team.
